CompUsa has the Lexar 256 SD Memory Card for $89.99 - $30 Instant Rebate

I picked it up from the store in Garden City, they had a whole bunch left. Don't know how many are online and in other stores, so for instore I'd say YMMV.

I don't know if this is an Hot deal, but anywhere that I save $30, i think that's worth mentioning.

Not bad. Staples has a PNY 256 SD memory card for the same price, $89.94 - $10 instant savings - $20 MIR = $59.94.

My question is: Does the Lexar one perform better than the PNY one, or are they basically the same stuff?

some say that lexar is better, but then again it just depends on what you are going to use it with.

What else other than store pics would you do on a regular basis?

Hot. Lexar's better than Sandisk and not as generic as PNY...

Newegg has pretty decent prices on SD cards.

Just picked up a kingston 256 mb SD card for $70 free shipping yesterday. for those people who dont want to mess around with rebates.

This is an "Instant" rebate. Your out the door price is $60 + tax.

One could argue though which card is better but also @ the same time it will depend on what you're using it for.

Lexar is a very good brand.

Definitely hot. No rebate to deal with and some will say these are better than Sandisk.

My CompUSA had 256MB cards in both black and blue casings. Anyone know the difference? They are both made in Japan and from what I have read on the net, the Lexar cards that are made in Japan have the Panasonic chipset which are some of the best performing SD cards.

sorry, not that hot. officemax had it for $50 AR, a week ago or something.
lexar actually isn't that good. i tested it out. it was the slowest card i had. slower than the pny.
lexar is not very good quality for SD cards, unless it's their high-speed, 32x rated ones. i think they might even be the same as sandisk (cause they don't actually make cards).

This is the 32x high-spped lexar card. Like I said in my post, this card most likely has the panasonic chipset making it one of the fastest SD cards you can buy.

If you don't mind messing with a $10 MIR, you can get the same card (Kingston) at ecost.com through 1/31 for $64 + $4.95 handling+ tax (if any), free shipping. For me, with CA tax around $5, it came to <$65 after MIR.

How can you tell the speed of your card? I just got the Kingston 256 MB SD card, arrived yesterday. Haven't used it yet. How can I determine the speed? I'm using it with a digicam.

I was looking at the 256 Lexar 256 card and it seems the one at CompUSA is NOT the 32x cards.

CompUSA has Mfg Part #: SD256-231
SD256-231

Part # for the 32x cards are Model# SD256-32-231. Also, you'll see a "32x" labled on the card itself
SD256-32-231

The cheapest I can find for the 32x so far is $75 with 2nd day shipping from NewEgg or AccuPC
