Overstock has refurbished GR-PDV3U, mini DV camcorder, 680,000 pixels, 10x optical zoom, 200x digital zoom. This baby is only 0.78 pound. Small size, 3.1in x 4.5in x 1.7in, You can put it in your pocket.

http://www.overstock.com/cgi-bin/d2.cgi?PAGE=PROFRAME&PROD_ID=43850&key=Other%20Brands

The price is $649.99. You can use 5% coupon, and ebates has another 3% discount. The shipping is unbelievable $2.95. So the final cost is around $600.

I bought one from bestpriceaudiovideo for $700 days ago:-(

Maybe the refurbished model is GR-DPV3, but what I got is GR-DPV3U

The price of the DVP7u is $300 more than this (brand new, not refurbed from Buydig.com) is it worth the extra cash for the megapixel capability?

You are better of buying a seperate digital camera. I just got one of the JVC's and the pictures it takes are about on par with a cheap webcam, even at 1024x768. Things would look 10x better to just extract a frame from the DV

I think this is a pretty good price. It's comparable to the going rate for a used one on e---Bay.

There are better MiniDV camcorder deals to be had, but not on something this size.

This is one of the smallest MiniDV camcorders available, it's about the size of a digital camera.

This is the better deal because it has analog in: JVC GR-DVM75U.

I did a lot of research before I bought my camcorder (I eventually bought the Canon ZR45) and made up a semi-complete comparitive matrix that you might be interested in viewing, located here.

Now you might be asking how much I got that ZR45 for? Hehe, I got it for $390 w/tax. PM if you want to know how.

This is really not a great Cam. I'm also not that big on the ZR45 - motor noise is incredible irritating and can be heard clearly in playback.

A much better cam for the price is the Canon Elura which is tiny as well and produces almost broadcast qaulity video. Almost all dv cams produce weak stills so if that is your main concern buy a digital still camera.

You're right about the motor hum. But I'm not that concerned since most of my recordings will be in semi-noisy conditions or will have music over dubbed. But I'm sending it to Canon to get it fixed under warranty in any case. If that doesn't work then I'm going to buy an external mic which, according to several reviews, fixes the problem.

I have the JVC and got it for $388. How you ask? Tweeter floor model. These stores are frequented by a MUCH different clientel than BB or CC so the floor models are in mint condition. THey come with full warantee but for a fraction of the price. Tweeter goes by different names in different places, so check www.tweeter.com to see if there is one of its kind around you. Stock may vary by store, but for great deals on high end electronics Tweeter floor models are hard to beat.

Oh, and the "U" at the end of the JVC product ID means "USA version"...usa models come with US warantee and are not the gray market ones you get from NYC shops.

These tiny cameras are great for recording when you don't want to be noticed, helmet cams (like I did) or if you are like me and have a prosumer camera like the GL1 and want to limit wear on the heads when editing. Also for extra batteries look at sabahoceanic.com

I have the JVC GR-DVM55U which is the JVC GR-DVM75U without the memory card. I too got the floor model for $169 but had to purchase the manual and the AC Adapter.

I also got two authentic JVC Batteries for $33 each.

Hi katka,

I was looking for the JVC-GRDVM55. Did you buy it at Tweeter's? If so which location? My Tweeter's are selling it for $398. Also, how much did you pay for the AC adaptor?

Sorry about all the questions. Thanks, for any help that you can give me.
