I was still bummed about Officemax screwing me on their A70 deal, so I did a little digging and found this deal at Dell

Powershot A70 Digital Camera = $299.00
Sandisk 256MB CompactFlash = $ 60.96

If you use the 20% off coupon, you can get it down to $288, I believe. I paid $273 for the camera and a bag just a couple of weeks ago. Shoulda held out. Is this card good? The Lexar I had said it was 12X on it, but I don't see any such designation on the Sandisk. Is the speed a factor in how fast you can take photos or is just for how fast you can download to your PC via USB? Or both?

small biz had 20% all software/peripherals. Depending on if you get charged tax or not, it may have come out a few bucks cheaper. You could've taken the kingston card instead, there's a $20 rebate on it, and I thin it was $57.xx or so.

It says usually ships in 1-2 weeks. Unfortunately confirmation e-mail said that it would ship on or before June 18th, which is a loooong time away from today.

Good idea with the Kingston...Drat...Do you think Dell will change my order? And since the camera is OOS for now, will they ship the Kingston in time for the rebate?

I just bought the A70 two weeks ago from Dell for $256 shipped (less my 2% ebates.com discount, too!). 256 megs of CF is $35ish after rebate right now, so the deal isn't bad, but it's not the best, either.

You can also get the same thing from Officemax (or maybe that was last week) for $250 plus tax by using a $50 off $250 coupon.

I placed my order on the 6th and received the Order Acknowledgement and Order Confirmation emails the same day.

I found this today: Staples- PNY 128MB CompactFlash - two for 49.99 AR - note that this deal is shown in the flier, but not in the individual item list on the right side of the page.

Also, Dell may still have the Kingston 256MB CF for $50 AR.

Thanks for the info. Yes, I received both emails within minutes of placing the order. I also signed up for email notification on their site, so I expect I'll get some notice when the backordered stock arrives.

I think I was misled by someone recently. I was under the impression I could get a 256MB CF for ~$30 AR. I should have bought one of the deals I saw recently. I just didn't know if it was compatible, with the type I & II and different speeds. What speeds is this camera compatible with?

Same thing here. Ordered on May 7 when I saw a post on slickdeals. Says it will ship on or before May 22, and "In Production". I was hoping to have it by my college graduate (May 24) for my parents to use, but if Dell is right, I won't. I wonder how CrimsonKing's got shipped so quick?

kinda OT question maybe someone can help me. i heard that bigger capacity compact flash cards are slower than lower capacity ones. is this true? what i mean, is that lets say with the exact same camera, a 512MB CF will slow down operation of the camera compared to a 64mb or 128mb cf card. is there any reasoning behind this? or is it all BS? i argued with the guy, saying it should be the same speed regardless.

My friend got his June 2nd order yesterday, it did shipped mid last week.

My order should be shipped today or tomorrow, we'll see how it goes.
