I picked one up today... I hope I don't regret it.
Right when I got back from the store I stumbled on an article in the motherboards section saying that the Antec truepower 2.0 had problems with some Tyan mobo's, and something about "The units do not appear to be delivering consistent power -- often dropping to as low as 11.3V on the 12V rail."

If everything works out and I don't have any such problems I will consider it a good deal. It seems like a lot of other people in my area thought so too as the one I got was the last on the shelf.

Antec claims the smart power units are within 3% of spec. If it droped to 11.3 I'd RMA it.

The CrapUSA linky descripto shows this...........

"ATX12V 2.01 compliant. 24-pin main power connector with detachable 4-pin section for universal motherboard compatibility"

So one shouldn't need a converter if they sport the 20 pin header.

Also, Newegg sells this for $79.99 + 6.99 shipping.
I tried to google up a "universal rebate" that could be used there instead of CrapUSA, but all the rebates I found were store specific. It's a generic form with the store name added in the same spot on all.
Newegg "HAD" a rebate for the 550 model (now expired). I also found a couple of stores with a $10 rebate for this, that will start & end later after this one expires.

I miss the days when manufacturers sent out the tear off form blocks to places like K-Fart and Omax that did not specify the store.
If this $30 form could be had like that, it would be a smoking deal at Newegg even with shipping.

i take that back...
it comes with 24 pins, but the 4 extra ones are in fact removeable... stupid me bought a 20-24pin converter from newegg and was shipped before i could cancel it
argh ok. yeah. nevermind
basically: you can have 20 pin or 24 pin... so it's ready for the an upgrade or for not-so-crazy computers
 
I've had this PSU for a while - it's a great one. I've actually had two. The first one I had crapped out on me after about 2-3 weeks. But when the PSU blew, it took absolutely NO other components out with it! I've had 3-4 PSU's blow on me in the past and many more no PCs I've worked on as a technician and this is the FIRST TIME I've ever seen a PSU blow that didn't take out at least 1 other component (frequently memory is the first to go with mobo trailing behind and then potentially cpu). So kudos to Antec for such a quality product!
