go ahead! let it all out brother!

hey, asking the original poster respectfully, did the sony 800a scan at that price?
the manager that follows me around the store is there today, and he may be working all day, as they close earlier now.
i don't want to have to deal with him there as he has already lied to me about several deals not being in stock, notably the 32mb xd cards that were a $1
thanks in advance!!!

yep, it did/does. i have two sitting at my desk. they ring at $37 only at stores that are closing.

i swung by my OM today that's closing in early march, and did not see any specials/sales except for an open-box table that had merely ok percent-off savings on the stuff on there. and the selection on the table was limited even. hopefully this upcoming week will see better stuff, and clearly marked specials (or is it safe to assume that all stores will be having the 70 some percent off electronics?)

Ok guys don't get to excited.. All the good items that are not on Clearance are getting shipped out...
So yea if it is on Clearance now.. they are just keeping those, and shipping the non-Clearance items to the wear house.
so aka mostly displays and junk

some stores are being liquidated. it just depends on the market each store is in. some stores are sending their merchandise to other stores. few of the stores are liquidating.

some other are .......... (well, wait till june)

please don't ask members loaded questions like that
what good would come of it
people have paid enough already. check the archives, if they still exist

would like to say thanks to original poster for answering my question. thanks!

just as another note, the stores that are closing now close early I tried to go yesterday at 6:45 and was told they closed at 6 and will close at 5 on sunday.

I can visit one of the closing stores, but it would be about an 11 mile round trip out of my way. Would it be worth my while or just a big waste of time? This particular store really is in a bad location in terms of access to it from the street (a very major thoroughfare, it turns out). On that basis, I think I'd want to close it, too.

Just visited OM. They begins to box up... Nothing is reduced, manager says they are moving whole store to New Orelans; maybe they will open one in Barton Rouge.

Barton Rouge? 😛 Since when did AMD get to rename the city?

I was just at the South Philly Snyder Plaza OM, don't bother. Man, that place doesn't have jack listed off. Doesn't look like they're really planning to clear stuff off, just ship it to the other two stores. Man that Snyder Plaza OM is so devoid of life and has always sucked compared to Staples.

I needed a 56K modem since my DSL modem recently died and I'm on a temporary dial up account (it's going to take a week to set up my new 3Mbps DSL account since my old 768Kbps account is so old).

Anyway, the Lynnwood WA OMax has HiVal 56K modems for the very nice price of $1.00. I don't quite know why, but I bought 3 of them. (I work on friends computers some times and believe it or not some are still on dial up).

No deals at the Manchester CT OM. It is on the closing list and they even have a flyer in the store with a $25 off $75 coupon.

I checked hte stores in NY, and they had jack.
All they had was a poster syaing they were closing the store. But the crap they had on sale weren't even on sale. It looks like regular price.

While I was at OfficeMax, I worked at a location that was closed back in 2003 and when we did it you could only get the hot deals on the displays and clearance merchandise. The regular merchandise was all boxed up and transferred to either local stores or the main delivery distribution center (in the case of chairs and furniture). They minght bbe running things differently with this round of closings.

The weird thing about them closing the Lynnwood, WA location is I always remember it being a pretty high volume location and it had the big regional CopyMax hub where the big, complicated print jobs got sent to. Heck, when I was with OM the regional manager has her office in that store. If they are closing that location, which was one of their crown jewels, they really must be hurting as a company.

Last Gas 75 % off all electronic and furniture displays and clearence

Carina Furniture (ready to assemble) is 75% off cleareance prices of $39 to $79

At tis point I don't know who to believe when it comes to the state of the economy, but having spent a couple of horrible years in the employ of OfficeMax, I can say with authority that the idiots in charge of that company could run a business into the ground in even the best economic circumstances.

2 years and counting for me, and I... whats a good word for really really strongly agree?!?!

Huge clearance starting today. Picked up 2 desks, a hutch and a chair for 74.75+tax. Also picked up an HP lightscribe external 16x DVD-DL writer for $25+tax. My friend picked up a lite-on 16x DVD-DL internal writer for $12.50!

"Would it be worth my while or just a big waste of time?"

i wasn't gone say nothing and just suffer quietly (i don't like crabbing on a deal no matter how sorry it is), but since someone asked i would have to say (edit: probably) the latter. the only thing i found out was how the manager had been figuring out my deals all this time!
he goes out the back of the storeroom and looks the price up in the computer in his office before he gives it to me or tells me its out of stock!!! i always wondered why he was taking so long back there
and the burner is still scanning and totalling $74!
