Damn, I saw the Topaz on OM's site a few hours ago too and was hoping to buy it online but now that it might not be an MVA panel... argh.

I wish my OM had the Pearl series when it was on sale. I definitely would've bit.

Thanks, spinejam. I used the online code for a 20" Soyo Pearl LCD since the 24" was discontinued and the site wouldn't let me buy it. It's ok. I'm a poor college student anyways.

Edit: I was reading on SD, which is where I heard about the 20" LCD, and they were saying how crappy the 20" Soyo Pearl is. I'm sad because I just wasted a good coupon and will probably have to drive to the store to return it.

Horrible Soyo experience. My 20" Soyo didn't come with a base and there was a dead pixel with lots of backlight bleeding around it. Also horrible viewing angle. I returned thing within 15 minutes of opening it.

Sounds like you got a returned unit (no base?!)

How the hell could they ship something like that? 🙁

Can anyone comment on the non-native resolution ghosting/blurring. I dont have the hardware to run 1900x1200 4aa/16af and still get 125fps.

TIA

Chalk another bad experience with soyo. I ordered a 20" from officemax online. At such a low price how bad could it be right? I didnt have high expectations for it either.

The box came crushed, the flaps looked like someone tried to open it with a baseball mitt and there was no protective seal or any sign that it was a new monitor at all. It looked as if someone dumped a floor model monitor in a crusty box and threw in new cables and a stand.

The worst is, it came with a big ugly stuck white pixel right in the middle of the screen and light bleeding was everywhere it looked like tie dye.

A word to the wise:

I spoke with the office max rep at the store while I was looking at them.

He told me that he would not recommend buying one of these, even at the deal price. He walked me over to the floor models and showed me the floor version and it had a wonderful red line through the screen with dead pixels spattered.

He also stated the reason it was so cheap was that they are dumping the Soyo stuff because of the number of returns they get from it. He said they had a half pallet of returned soyo's in the back with dead pixel issues.

Of course, YMMV since this was all from a sales guy, but he seemed pretty legit and actually knew a bit about what he was doing (response times, panel types, etc).
