Really? That makes this even hotter! Too bad I can't get this in MA right now 🙁

I didn't know they still sell monitors without this HDCP crap.

No it doesn't work that way.

The source device will do one of two things on a non compliant connection, either 1) automatically downgrade to low def, or 2) refuse to send anything.

It's still B&M only. Call ahead and ask if they have the Pearl series, NOT the Topaz

Get the Soyo Pearl DYLM24E6 - $229.99 front buttons, 2ms, better tilt
NOT the Soyo Topaz DYLM24D6 - $279.99 side buttons, 3ms, worse tilt

Comments:

I've been working on an Dell 1800FPW, and this is a fantastic upgrade. I'm apparently not very sensitive to flicker because I never had any problems with my 20ms panel, so 2ms is really overkill for me.

I don't do anything technical, but the colors seem more than adequate to me and I'm really happy. My only complaints are lack HDCP (but I have AnyDVD), and poor vertical viewing angle. Sometimes I like to slouch in my chair, and the brightness drops considerably. Fortunately the screen tilts, but better vertical angle would be nice.

Regardles, $230 for 1920x1200 at this quality is a steal. I was holding out for a 2408, but it rarely gets below $500.

Thanks OP, and cheers.

This is probably one that has an MVA panel (mine has an MVA panel -- I checked the box in the attic and it was 6ms as well).

Visiting here in Houston, both the D and the E model had instant rebates to $280. Wanted to get one @$230, but apparently that isn't how it's working in Houston. E model item # is 660475303541, D model is 660475303480

I had both at the register to see what they scanned at, both were ringing up @$280. Both were 2-3ms response times on the box, however I seem to have recalled seeing one on the floor with 6ms response time. The clerk apparently didn't grab that one, so I'll go back tomorrow.

**edit** - went back today and saw where I got mixed up, the shelf tag description had 6ms response time listed, however, the ones in stock were all 2-3ms response time. And they were down to just one, where they had 5-6 yesterday.

i got one for $279 .. thanx for the deal!, OP
- it is bigger than i need for gaming and it will also double as my LR TV, to replace my 20 year old Sony 20" TV.

it is much better than my TN 16x10 Samsung 20.1" LCD - except [only] for the Black; there is less ghosting on the Soyo for gaming. And the Viewing angles on the Soyo are MUCH better than for my Samsung [or *gag* 14x9 Acer]

170H/178V

That is damn good for a TN and your Boss will now like looking over your shoulder {i don't have one, BtW =)}. It is even good from "top > down" .. but not so good from viewing from the bottom looking up; what i never do anyway. But worlds better than my 160/160 Samsung 205BW.

So i got it for $279 and it is pixel PERFECT. i need it to do 19x12 reviews [for my own upcoming site, AlienBabelTech.com] and it is a very nice LCD. Heck, i will even review it also; but both thumbs are solidly up - right now!

My new HD4870 is also a nice upgrade but i expect i will *need* another GPU - HD4870x2 - for a crossfire X3 solution to really run all modern games with maxed out crossfire filtering at 19x12; at 16x10 it was OK. But games really do look awesome on a 24-incher.

I work for OfficeMax Distribution at one of the Distribution centers. You would not believe the amount of these Soyo LCD's we ship out everyday.

Not sure if this is allowed here, but I have a 30 off 150 one time use coupon if somebody wants it. Expires 8/9. Reply to this thread if you want it. Please no PM's.

Ok, I could use it if you still have it. Does it include tech items?

Thanks, much appreciation! I will try to use today...

Yea, I know it's digital and they will all produce the same picture quality, but I would like a cable with decent build quality that won't break the first time someone accidently trips over it or tugs on it.

Give Monoprice a try, also search the forums here, you'll find people pretty much in awe of the quality at the low price point Monoprice's cabling is. I've ordered $400 or so of cabling over the years from them, every one was good or better quality.

I am going to Tarrytown, NY this weekend, 7/25-27. Has anyone in that area found availability for these? No go in Buffalo for me.

I am confused. The Soyo Topaz DYLM24D6 shows 6ms on officemax's website. Which makes me think this might be a MVA panel. Yet the same model on soyo's website says 3ms which would be TN.

Do they possibly have both a TN version with 3ms and a MVA version with 6ms? Or is it likely officemax got the specs wrong? The brightness is also different between the officemax site (500) and soyo site (400).

I want to jump if this is truly a MVA panel, but not if its TN, as I will be using this mostly for photo editing. Thanks all.

Best thing is to check in stores and seeing for yourself.

If you're are planning to order online, I ordered mine (DYLM24D6) online earlier this week, I'll give you guys an update once I receive it next week.

Can anyone comment on gaming performance?

1. 1900x1200 ghosting/blurring
2. non-native resolution ghosting/blurring

I purchased my Topaz S on Black Friday and it had the 6ms reponse time. It has a great picture and viewing angle. I think Soyo /OM kept the same name but quietly switched to the TN panels so this maybe something you want to purchase in person. I suspect most new orders will be the 3ms TN however.

Soyo did switch to TN and getting the 6ms box is no guarantee that you'll get an MVA. The RMA replacement I just got back from Soyo was a 6ms, manufactured in January 08, and was definitely TN. Any new stock at OM will definitely be TN. If they allow you to open boxes up, you can search for a panel made in 2007, which should be MVA.

As for gaming performance, I couldn't find any ghosting at native on the MVA I had. There's also next to 0 (realistically 1 frame or less) input lag. I would expect the TN to perform just as well as the MVA did.
