What is the details of this deal? I can't find anything about memorex dvd+r on sale, let alone buy 1 get 1 free. I would like to jump on this myself if this is a real deal nationwide.

According to videohelp, the media code for the 8x dvd+r discs is PHILIPS.C08. I guess I will find out tomorrow if this deal was just a local weekend thing or not.

Imprinted in the middle circle is PAH686IDO2101602, and in the back it's CPDR47G-CAEWP09-033. Teh Google does nothing.

Actually, the "Memorex" optical-disc media company isn't even "Memorex". Some other company bought their name to use for marketing media. That company doesn't make that media other, they buy it from cheap taiwanese OEMs.

There are only a few "real" media mfgs left. Checking the disc id code can often, although not with absolute certainty, suggest who is the actual mfg.

CAE have CMC.MAG.E01 code. PAE is the PHILIPS.C08. Both are actually made by the same manufacturer (I think it is Daxon but not completely positive).

I went there! To the store in Grapevine, TX. None left... I asked the clerk and he got some out, and they were philips 2.4x, not 8x.

I passed.
