HOT? Newly released Dell 2407WFP for $711.75 + ship AFTER $25% coupon @ DellSB

How many of you picked up the deal when it was $711?

I noticed their site has reduced the price from 949 to 806, which is still almost a hundred dollars more than the coupon deal, but at least the price IS going down.

What's better for gaming, Dell's top-of-the-line 20" or 24"? And are these not recommended for fast-paced, online FPS games (Quake 2)?

Thanks

I have one of those Dell 35%/$35 off coupons and had no idea I could get $20-40+ for it on eBay. Geez, you can sell anything on eBay, maybe even your mother.

Well, Dell has the 2407wfp without coupon for $747, so if you are like me and missed out during the initial coupon, now might be the time to buy 😀

Both are good, but a lot is going to depend on how good a video card you have.
Running native res on the 20" (1680x1050 widescreen version or 1600x1200 4:3 version) you should easily get by with a 7800GT/ATI equivalent or the 24" (1920x1200 widescreen) is going to require more power (SLI/Crossfire anyone) to get the best out of it.

I've heard the new ones have banding issues among other things, would it be worth getting a used 2405 instead?

I believe there have been several threads reporting that revision A02 fixes the banding issue.. So, shouldn't be a problem anymore.

well i can now say i am the proud owner of a 2407wfp! just came in today and it is such a significant upgrade over my 19" nec crt. hah.

747-35 off coupon - 10 paypal coupon = 702 😀

On the dell forums people are still complaining about banding with the A02 revision. also some people had ghosting issue's....thats whats holding me back from buying it.

I've checked Dell's forums on the 2407 WFP. Regardless of revision this monitor has lots of issues, some if which will never be solved. Quite a few people are rather unhappy, complaining about banding after updating (better: having it updated) to the latest firmware. And Dell won't release a new revision for the 2407 WFP (official statement by Dell staff). Despite its high screen resolution the monitor does not support 1080i.....
I'm glad I checked this thread, this monitor might look like a bargain at $703 but I'm now sure it's not. 🙁

Given the seemingly persistent problems with the 2407, which would be a better choice for cad (no gaming) -- a dell 2405 for $780-$800 shipped
or the Samsung 244T at $900 shipped?

sorry to threadcap, but there are other 24" monitors out there.

as far as the banding issue goes, read here for dell's solution. http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums...?board.id=dim_monitor&message.id=60479

Not adjustable, no usb, I'd respond to the technical details and compare but I"m not familiar with the acer, of course I could look at the spec sheet but for that kind of money the monitor should have some toys like the Dell.
