Nice deal, but don't expect to hack this one. Probably a return that didn't hack to a 9700. Great price though.

you got black instead of red so you decided to RMA it?

I hope they charged you the 15% restocking fee

why? you can specify if you want a red PCB or black PCB when you order from newegg.com, they might have simply mixed'em up. if he ordered a red one, he has every right to RMA it.

I wouldn't be so quick to jump down his throat. First of all restocking fees are bs. Second, Newegg specifically stated that the one you are purchasing is a red pcb, and charged $1.00 more than the black one. Since they ran out of stock the substituted the black pcb versions w/out asking people if it was ok. Newegg is gladly issuing rma's because it was their fault. So please don't get all high and holy before you do a little investigation. If Newegg is comfortable with this why would you even care?

i ordered an ABIT motherboard from newegg a few weeks ago that was dead on arrival. sucks to pay 15% restocking fee because of a manufacturer defect. i think they charge 15% on all returns unless you exchange it for the exact same item. i was building a system with a deadline so i had to pick up a mb at microcenter. lost about $40 in profit because of all that. booooo

What's the difference between red and black? I know what red and black are....but you know what I mean....

The red one follows the layout of the 9700pro board while the black one has similar layout as the 9500pro boards, the red ones can be software mod to 9700 specs, and with a little overlock it will run close to 9700pro......

I got the one I returned 5 weeks ago, what are the odds of that. Just kidding! Don't expect these to take the hack as pointed out earlier.
