As far as this unit goes (yes, I've been following), this price is more than tepid.

ROFL!!!

With the $50 off coupon, this is the best upfront price that I have seen on this monitor. The $30 rebate just makes it even better.

Find this unit for $100 is extremely hot, but a final price of $250 is more than tepid. :p

Excellent find. I've been looking to go for a 19" monitor for some time. All the better, its a Samsung. Lay down the boogie and play that funky deal till you die!

FYI: Some people have reported problems with Samsung and their exchange policy for defective merchandise.

Seems that Samsung's policy is to send a refurbished unit for its replacement.

Point being: If you wanted a refurb, you could have gotten a better deal buying it refurbished out-right. This doesn't mean that the one you'll get will be bad though.

A few caveats I saw when I was shopping for a monitor:

Some have found this monitor to be too grainy.
Also only does 75hz max at 1280x1024.

However, it's still a good price.

ETLA,

I had been pricing this Samsung and the NEC AS95F as they are roughly the same price (pre-rebates and coupons). I think the NEC maxes out at 76Hz on 1600 X 1200. (Samsung only at 65HZ with the max res). The only knock I read on the NEC was that it didn't play nice with nVidia cards. I haven't bother to verify.

The 950p is a better monitor, at least the specs are. I just bought it for 290-25 at onvia when they had that coupon, for 265, not the best price (mercata, 250 or something) but no rebate, no shipping, etc.

Which monitor is better for image quality? Color, sharpness, screen flatness? I don't mind the refresh rates, since I'll probably use 12x10 @ 80 Hz.

I had a Samsung 950P ( 289(PM w/ onvia) - 40 coupon = total $268 w/tax ) from staple for 2 weeks. It was good. But it is not a flat Screen. I gave 950P to my brother and I order the Samsung 955DF for me.
I hope 955DF is good as 950P .

If you're looking for a monitor, it's worth it.

I will not buy a 19" monitor that does not do at least 75MHz at 1600x1200.

My two year old cheapo CTX does that, and I can't conceive why a newer and more expensive monitor can't do the same. Unless it is even cheaper than my cheapo.

Thanks for letting me know about this drawback.

It's $318 now. I used Amazon GCs and 'paid' $350.

Does Amazon offer price protection for those of us that bought it there at a higher price?
Same store, same product, new lower price= scr3wed?

Anyone have experience with them on this issue?

Go to techbargians or fatwallet for coupons.

This is a pretty good deal, no string attached like all the floating Staples deals. It is a flat face monitor, but don't expect to run it at 1600x1200 unless you are immune to flicker. I find that resolution to be a bit useless on 19" monitors.

Specs
.20 horizontal dot pitch = .24 diagonal dot pitch
Flat Invar Shadow Mask
1280x1024 @ 80Hz
1600x1200 @ 68Hz

The 950p does have better specs, but it has a larger dot pitch and it is not flat faced.

Pretty good buy if you are on a tight budget and want a decent quality 19" for under 250.

Only 3 days left for free shipping! After that, expect to pay at least $30 more.

I've got the Samsung 955DF on order at Amazon.com, I've waited 3 weeks now still not shipping.

Price I am supposed to get it for tho is $266.00 - $50.00 = 216.00 - 30 MIR = 186.00, this is w/ free shipping.

Problem is, when will this monitor ship?

sux.
