I think that this is one HOT DEAL at compuplus.com. Intel price drops are in effect already. The next lowest price on Pricegrabber is $493.38. They are Gomez (3 Stars), Cnet Certified, and Yahoo! top rated merchant. Shipping was $14.95 for second day air (no ground option).

$299.00 - 1 GHz Intel P3 - 133 FCPGA

How about more you say?

$88.00 - Maxtor 15.3 GB 7200 RPM ATA 100 Hard Drive

$92.00 - Pioneer 16X DVD Slot Load

$229.00 - AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1 GHZ (1,000 mhz) Socket A CPU Retail Box

I checked out their return policy and it says:

<< We have a 30-day money back guarantee policy, with no restocking fee, on most items. >>

<< Due to the volatility of the CPU market, we offer a 15 day refund policy, and a 30 day exchange on all CPU's. If a refund is requested after the 15 day deadline, we will refund your account for the current selling price if lower. >>

Sweet Deal.

Note - I am not affiliated with this company, but these prices are great! Time to max out my CC's.

compuplus is a horrible company to deal with
its not worth the headache you'll get with dealing with their rudeness and cheating habits

I'll post my results on Wed. after I get my processor. Hopefully, I won't have to call them if they are bad.

Please let us know when you get your chip. I'm looking for a new chip for my birthday in March (gift from g/f if I can talk her into it). This would be a great deal.

With the 3 year warrenty from Intel, unless you get a doa you shouldn't have to deal with these guys would ya?

there are price cuts today anyway. give it a week and they should be around $268. besides thats a totally gay price compared to any of the faster athlon chips anyway

Yes Larvae the prices suck compared to T-birds..BUT..many of us are on our 3rd and 4th processors on Intel BX boards like the BX6r2..So,for example, when I "upgraded" to a Celeron566 @ 850 for 85 bucks the bang for the buck factor blew anything else away...The AMD's only make sense when building from scratch, and even then only for a power system..For cheap-o easy second machines the availability of cheap "all-in-one" Intel chipset boards negates any price/performance benefit of the cheaper AMD products. 30 dollar motherboards with respectable video/sound/lan...I know this may change but it still seems that the Intel based motherboards have a longer shelf life thanks to the Slocket adaptor and cheap ram and near perfect compatability sparing the User from having to buy only "approved" ram, power supplies, and the like at premium prices..
Celery 566 at 850 BX6r2 , Celery 300 at 450 on an 810 all in 1, and a K6-2 300@ 350 on a Super 7 ..
End Rant

Go GIANTS!!(from a Jet fan!)

Steevo I totally agree. I've had this Abit BH6 1.0x for almost 3 1/2 years. I had a celeron 266 overclocked to 400. Then the celeron 366 overclocked to 550. Then now I have a Celeron2 566 overclock to 850 with an Iwill sloyket2. This motherboard refuses to go away! LOL Now I'm thinking about the P3 1ghz too!! Long live the BX board.
