HOT! Motorola cable modem $19.99 :)!

Don't think the $30 rebate will go thru. It says "When you purchase a Motorola SB4100 SURFBoard cable modem on motorola.com/shop"

Although, the form doesn't say anything about this in the fine print.

Update:

I take it back. Looks like the $30 is valid from anywhere (seems to be getting printed out at the BB registers.) Although, mutilple rabates with 1 UPC might be of issue. Hot deal either way. $49.99 for this modem is great, $19.99 is flaming.

Anyone have advanced info about the $80 rebate?

yeah, only for new activations.

taken from the rebate page:

Receive a $30 mail-in rebate with the in-store purchase of one of the following:

MOT SB4100 OR MOT SB4200

Receive an additional $50 mail-in rebate when you ALSO purchase one of the following:

Any High Speed Cable Internet Service from Adelphia, AT&T Broadband, Comcast, Cox, or Charter Pipeline

i'm pretty sure that this deal only works for the new customer. the cc 80 rebate is for new customer only, when you recieve your first month bill, you just have to send it in with your cc rebate form to get the 80 dollars back. you also quallify for the 30 manuf. rebate which brings down to 19.99.

i think this deal has been around for a while, but it's not as good as before 5/1 when amex pm still valid.
check out this thread

i went to cc and purchased the modem in 4/30 when they have the 80 new customer rebate and pm 93 and mailing in the 30 rebate, which bring the total cost to

129.99
- 36.99 AMEX PM
- 80 CC rebate
- 30 manuf. rebate
= will be paid 17 after all the rebates came in.

too bad AMEX doesn't work anymore, but 19.99 is pretty good price.

I checked with my local CC at San Mateo, CA, the sales man said that
the $80 rebate can't be combined with the $30 motorola one. I am
not sure if this is true.

The other question is, if I sign up at CC for the ATT broadband, would
I still qualify for the ATT's promotion? currently the promotion is $30
off 1st month, $20 off 2nd month and 10 off 3rd month.

thanks a lot

I think CC has something similar. This is what it says for one of the AT&T Broadband Internet Service: $50 credit-$10/mo for 5 mos of HSD service
Free Basic Installation

Monthly Fee: $35.95

I think if you go with AT&T directly it's $39.35/month.

I just signed up last night. $129.99 - $30 rebate - $50 rebate.

This modem should be compatible with Cox HSI (it is in my area for Cox HSI), but I am unsure if it is DOCSIS 2.0 compliant.

If you are going to sign up with ATT, you may want to think twice about buying your own modem. ATT is changing what they charge for a the modem rental, from $10 a month to $3 a month. Before you think 'Hey a cable company lowering prices!' think again, they are not lowering prices for renters by $7 but raising the price for owners by $7. If you pay the $130 minus $80 rebate, plus tax it will take you ~23 months to get your money back. A hugh disadvantage of owning your own modem is that every chance tech support can't solve a problem by recyling your modem and rebooting your computer, they try to blame it on your modem. The $3 a month is probably money well spent in less headaches. You also may not want to commit to 23 months (or even 7) to get your money back as Comcast is about to purchase ATT broadband and almost guarenteed prices will go up and services down ie. one (1) GIG per month newsgroup download limit. ATT buyer beware!!!

No, I believe the 4100 is only 1.1 compliant. I think the 4200 is 2.0 compliant

ALSO, I recommend NOT using this with COX. i recommend only using the Toshiba with COX. Signal Strength and Current are complete opposites on the Motorola and Toshiba modems. As in, Motorola takes a low current, but a strong signal strength and Toshiba takes a high current and low signal strength. Even though COX says they support both, they're network is really only truly configured for Toshiba (which is what they provide with new service anyways).

And if you think I'm making this up, try it out for yourself. #1 - I have a better signal now, thus steadier high speeds and #2 try to fight Cox when they fry your modem after they have a service black out. They ramp up the current through the line and eventually, your Motorola will get fried. Happened to me. Call motorola customer service and they say over 95% of their calls are due to COX frying their modems. COX would do nothing for me but thankfully, Motorola replaced my modem free of charge (they said they're going to stop doing this since they're losing so much money replacing modems for COX customers). I then took the modem they mailed me and returned it to Best Buy when the Toshibas were on sale and made $30 in the process since they had an extra rebate that week 🙂

Are you sure? ATT bought comcast here at sacramento a few months back. Since @home go bankrupt my speed is now capped at 180KBS, I wounldn't mind the old Comcast, without the 1gig newsgroup limit of course.

looks like i missed this deal, got the $30 rebate from motorola but can't take advantage of the $80 becaause i already have a cable provider.

On 6/15 I will be dumping my Verizon dsl and Direct Tv to get cable and cable modem from optimum on line (just became available in my town}. The modem is $129.95 but they will credit it back in order to win over the satelite customer. I think I 'll send the $30.00 rebate in to make a little $$ on the cable industry. This was a deal with Cablevision of NJ that I just managed to catch the tail end of. 😉
