i bought mine at Amazon and they already gave me a #. But i called verizon and they said i can port it over. We'll see

You should be fine with Verizon. Cingular is the only carrier that does not provide number porting for Amazon customers, not yet at least.

Yes, Cingular is obligated but only if you purchase the service from them directly.

My friend did it with Cingular. He had two phone number, cancelled one; one month later, move the other number to cancelled phone; it can be done, you need to ask them "very" nicely.




 
what about if you are a cingular customer whos completed your contract?
my sister is looking for a new phone but wants CHEAP. this would be great... any way for her to keep her #?
 
its about time this phone became free.... its just a basic v600,v551 motorola BUT... with a sleaker looking case... thats all... what a great phone... cough cough...
 
Anyone know of a place in pa/md or online that has this free with a 1year contract? Ain't no way im doing 2 year.
 
So far, 20 out of 30 people who have bought this phone have had problems with it....

some had dead buttons/keys, some display problems, and one person unit was DOA.


For such a "spiffy" phone, its sure turned out to be a "sucky" phone. The phone is being used in a normal white-collar businiess eniornment....by men & women ages 30-60yrs.



 
Awesome phone in my opinion, owned mine for months. Good battery life, better than average reception compared to some other phones I've owned.

Pretty good reviews on epinion.com as well, one of the better cell phones I've owned.

I'm still in the middle of a 2 yr contract w/ Cingular. Would I be able to switch phones to this one? Will it renew my 2 yr agreement?

nope, I tried this, cingular will not let you port your number if you buy the phone from a 3rd party company eg: buy.com

This is wrong, I worked there, plain wrong.
 
shiz -- I ported a number from voicestream/tmobile to at&t (which is cingular now) via amazon & got the family plan (2 phones) to boot. Worked like a charm and got $350 in rebates. 😀
