I just received my e-mail last nite around 6:00 PM and the site has been down for maintenance since then, it says temporarily. According to the e-mail there are 1,000 copies still left though.
 
Funny, I am not a retail employee and work for none of these stores...but I received my free copy of XP professional from ms last week, and an email confirming my holiday titles too...must be a figment of my imagination
 
Well what will happen not is MS will have to become tighter with who they give the stuff out to, and who they let into the site. Im sure thats why the site is down. They got nailed and someone figured out they had a problem, and now they are trying to contain this. Im sure this will delay the program and who knows. Maybe they will ship it to your store.

Yeah, I got the same e-mail after completing 11 quizzes. When I completed the quizzes, I did not receive anything other than a response that said I had completed them. No remarks about the promotion, or I will get the package, etc.........nada.

I wonder - since I am registered - if I will get another e-mail next week telling me I will get the package.

Anyone know what is going on?

I also do not work in retail (or work anywhere, for that matter 😀) and I still received XP Pro. Didn't bother with this one though, the site was going too slow.
 
The site is back and not as slow as yesterday before it went down. I completed the required 10 courses now its wait and see if I did them in time.
 
I wish I could register without their server saying I timed out...

And to think, It'd actually be legitimate for me, unlike some others out there, taking advantage of microsoft...

For those that haven't completed it yet, could you click on the Prizes link and tell us how many are left? I can't get that info anymore...
 
I just completed the 10 test and recieved my goods ( Only took 5 hours because of the slow ass site but well worth it ) so there is still prizes left. Last count I saw was around 800 left.

Don't log in and click on prizes at the bottom and it will show you how many is available.

BTW, 880 left as of now.

You know, I'm gonna get a lot of flack for this, but this is just wrong you guys... being an elligable employee that SHOULD be getting this, I can't because it's all clogged up by non-employees... and yes, I probably will miss out on this for that reason.. how come mods don't lock these threads? 3/4 of the people getting in on them aren't elligable and are more or less stealing this deal from those of us who don't have many perks in their jobs.
 
I agree stonecold, This Is stealing and the moderators should have shut this thread down. And others like it i.e. the amd nfr one as well.

I suspect there are non-employees taking advantage of this, but that's not the same as KNOWING there are. So why would Anadntech lock or delete the thread? I wouldn't be surprised if legitimate people like yourself would not have even known about this if it wasn't for Anandtech. I mean why are you only trying now AFTER the original deadline for the offer if you knew about it before. So I think these threads serve a purpose. Would you rather miss out on the deal than put up with slow responses? If you didn't get this, it's not because of non-employees overloading the server, its because you didn't know about OR take the tests earlier.
 
yeah its about as wrong as stacking coupons that you didn't receive in the mail and or PM'ing off a pricing error, or taking advantage of a promotion that someone figured out a way to buy 2 demo disks and get a full game free.

I think their goal is to educate salespeople to become better MS salesmen to sell more MS products,

not to reward you for all your long hours in retail...................


 
Damn...I am actually eligible as a retail employee but at the rate this website is going I wont complete the quizzes until next year. I hope MS actually checks into the employment options that people put down so the freeloaders get screwed 😉
 
um, actually, microsoft emails us when they offers are available, plus at work we freceive updates on this... so please don;t tell me if it weren't for anandtech we true employees wouldn;t know about it... with the holidays coming up I've been working so many hours that I haven't had time to enter... this is stealing outright if you aren;t an employee
 
Re: My previous post as to what the status of my "Prize" is.

I completed the quizzes, but did not get any notification that I was eligible for the prize package.

I just logged into the M$ Training Site using my ID number, and then clicked on the "prize" link. The link said, "XXXXX, you will receive the prize package.".........or words to that effect.

So, if you took the quizzes and dont know wassup...........just do what I did, and you will find out if you have become eligible.

Good luck to everyone that took the time to complete the quizzes.........it was definitely worth the time!!!
