RossMAN - I don't have the Umax scanner, but I did buy the Memorex one and the Microtek ScanMaker X6 from BestBuy.com not too long ago...I compared photo samples of both of them and couldn't tell much of a difference, so I'm thinking most of the 600x1200 36-bits will be about the same..I know it doesn't help a whole lot though...lol

BuffBoy, Speed is not the reason for going from EPP to USB. If you had done a search on USB you would have found: USB Info. Then go to: USB FAQ, and you would have found this partial list:

serial port: 115kbits/s (.115Mbits/s)
standard parallel port: 115kBYTES/s (.115MBYTES/s)
USB: 12Mbits/s (1.5MBYTES/s)
ECP/EPP parallel port: 3MBYTES/s
IDE: 3.3-16.7MBYTES/s

And this clearly shows EPP is twice as fast as USB.

Just this weekend I got by rebate information sent back to me from Memorex saying my UPC code was not valid and it could not be processed. WTF?
