Optical Resolution of 600 x 1200 dpi. 36-bit depth. Up to 8.5"x11.69" scanning area.

$59.94- $20 off - $20 memorex rebate = $19.94 + tax.

Edit: the $20 off codes are just everywhere. (like ableshoppers.com and lots of you guys loved t@chbargains.com) Sorry I can't provide the code here.

The specs. sound pretty reasonable...I wonder how the OCR works on this model...If you find any information out in regards to the quality, please post here 🙂 ...been looking for a dirt cheap cheaper with good quality output

Well, if it's Memorex, it's undoubtedly made by someone else. I don't think they actually make anything of their own.

Im confused, forgive my ignorance...but, ummmm how do you figure 19.95? I see the rebate which brings it down to 39.95....whers the other 20.00?

The page says WAS 79.95 NOW 59.95 plus $20.00 rebate making it 39.95, am I missing something?

Thanks for clearing that up 🙂

I've been looking for a good scanner at a fair price, this just fit that exact profile. Thanks mikebill.

Where can I find a review for this scanner?

Anyone know who really makes this scanner? It doesn't appear to have touch buttons, which is pretty much a standard feature now.

But, heh, I bought it anyway.

HEh...do a search on google.com or altavista.com for "6136U"

I only find the scanner listed on tech-brgns.com and staples.com......no reviews.

But I did find a few car listings with that number....wierd.

Phoebe, don't know if you are pulling my leg or not, but since you are a junior member, I'm just guessing RTFL = Read The Freakin' Listing. Substitute any F word you want.

Software includes TWAIN with advanced scanning interface, MGI PhotoSuite II SE and Scansoft TextBridge Pro 8 OCR.

The 3300 on Visioneer's page is a parellel port model.
Hopefully, its more like the 6100usb - which correlates with Memorex's Model 6100 series model no (6136U). The case, however, is the same look and dimension of the 3300; the 6100USB has a one-touch button, which the Memorex model does not appear to have.

My guess?- the Memorex has the guts of the 6100USB in the no-frills, no button, 3300 case.

The Visioneer link you provide can't be for the same scanner.
That's a parallel interface scanner, and the Memorex scanner
is USB.

Check this link_to_CNET for a list of visioneer scanners. If this
is indeed a Visioneer scanner (how does anyone know that, anyway?)
then it's probably something like teh Colorodo 2400U or 6100U
or...?

I emailed Memorex tech support, and they said that support for this scanner is not done by Memorex, but done by calling this number: (541)884-5548 whoever that is.

Has anyone received this scanner yet to comment on it? How about you unknowndude, are there any buttons on it?

Got the scanner about 2 hours ago, and have already done some decent scanning in Windows 2000.

Compared to my old par port Umax, it rocks. Much faster, quieter, and the drivers are much better. Output seems to be much better then my Umax as well. Of course, I'm sure there are much better scanners out there, but not for $20!

Regarding buttons, it has none, not even a power switch. Looks well made, and the glass is clean with no dust on the inside.
