HOT Maxtor 300 GB S-ATA HD $89.99

Would never buy Maxtor either, for that matter. Although nice deal for a large hdd. Maxtor = dead in 3 weeks. :<

I disagree platnum member, I've owned maxtor drives since 1995 that I still use today and have no problems. I think they fail if you put them in an oven and set it to 350.

Well, in the last *month* I've had 9 drives fail at work and 2 at home--100% of them were Maxtor.

You were obviously doing something interesting to have 9 + 2 drives all failed in a month.

I was skeptical about all the maxtor bashing....until this week. I just had my 2nd HD crash in 3 weeks. Both were about 3 years old.

I'm wondering if they have a countodown timer installed?

My maxtor 250gb sata just failed on me.

Thats why im looking at hard drive threads...

I guess ill steer away from maxtors great deals this time

Every Brand of hard drive fails.... trust me. Over the long term, ALL of them have had problems. Ford/Chevy/Dodge they all have quality issues. There is no Toyota/MB of hard drives.

While off topic, Toyota is not perfect or anywhere close.

I'd much rather take a Dodge or Chevy over a Toyota.

And one little thing everybody should keep in mind: "Everything human made breaks"

IDE and/or SATA for the same price, save 3% more by going through Fat Wallet first...and also a repost. 😉

My systems have both Maxtor and WD.

The maxtors are older than the WD.

I actually gave a 17.2 GB Maxtor that I paid $250 (back in the day) and it is still working fine.

So if it was me I would say MAXTOR NEVAR FAILS!

When one person has a problem I tend to think perhaps itt's the person and not the product 😉

Yeah, that's gotta be a user problem on the part of DragonMasterAlex. You just don't get 11 drives failing like that all at once.

I would never buy anything from TigerDirect with a MIR... You have been warned

I ordered a 250 gb seagate harddrive from Tiger Direct and recieved my rebate in good time. Fortunately I did not hear your warning or listen to it.... 😉
