Ouch! I wonder if the first deal was an error? They shipped mine for $116.25, it should be here tomorrow.

Yep, had the same email. If i had overnighted it, i would have had the drive by now - Fed ex normally delivers in the am here. My tracking shows the box leaving NJ this morning, i'll watch and see where it ends up. I guess theres nothing we can do, although my CC was authorized (but not charged) and the product was actually shipped.

Both have a 3 year warranty.

that does MTBF stand for?

Weird.

Looking at my tracking info on the FEDEX site says

Held at FedEx location for recipient pickup

I think I will swing by FEDEX on the way home and see what happens.

why did you leave bad feedback for the merchant if they canceled your order due to incorrect pricing? It's probably in their service agreement that you agreed to that says they can cancel orders for any reason including incorrect pricing, and if thats the case, you really should remove your "rating"
It's completly unfair to the company.

I disagree.

While I have np with the company cancelling the order because of a price error I DO have a problem with them invoicing me, charging me, shipping to me, and then 30 minutes after the tracking info email comes through (and the box is 3/4 of the way to me as well -- it was in MD and I am in VA) telling me its wrong and they are having FEDEX send it back to them.

Pretty stupid if you ask me. They have also not responded to any of my emails about the issue as well. Poor business practices if you ask me. They should have done a better job reviewing the order before shipping.

Guaranteed this would not have happened if it was not for the Anandtech, FW, HF effect as I am sure they were alerted once sales of this drive went through the roof.

Anyway we will see what happens when I go to pick it up and what happens if I get the drive in my hands (it will sit in the box until I hear from them).

Because they charged my card, shipped the drive and THEN decided it didnt want to sell it at that price. I called, they wont refund my card until they get the drive back from Fed Ex. So its ok for them to accept a contract to sell an item, take my money and then keep my money because they messed up? If they hadnt charged my card and shipped, i would have been "oh well" but thats not the case.

I had the same thing on my tracking about it being at the depot for pickup, and i even had an automated message telling me to go get it, then 10 mins later a lady calls from Fed Ex and tells me the drive is going back to the shipper.

It's one thing to cancel a mispriced item; I have had this happen to me, and I never leave bad feedback for that. It is another thing to charge my credit card, confirm shipment, then decide the next day that the price was to low. That is utterly unprofessional; once you have charged someones credit card, confirmed shipment, and shipped, the transaction should be complete. I have NEVER seen a store reroute a shipment like this before; completely inappropriate in my opinion. In addition, Chief Value has refused to refund my money until the rerouted shipment reaches them sometime next week; if they are going to cancel the order now, they should refund the money NOW.

This store deserves the bad ratings they will get. Everyone who got gyped on this transaction should leave feedback on resellerratings.com, pricegrabber.com, epinions.com, and bizrate.com.

edit: I wonder who is legally "right" here? My impression was, once a company has shipped an item, it is technically "yours". If so, a letter to the Better Business Bureau might be appropriate.

Think about it this way, if it was YOUR buisness.
You're going to be losing money on this product if it continues to ship out. What are you going to do? of course you're gonna recall the drives and sell them at the price that it was intended for. Not every company can pull a dell here (actually owning up to the price mistake), becuase it's just to much of a profit loss if they do.
The company should have refunded your money as soon as they could though, that is the only thing that I can see leaving a "negative" feedback for, if not a neutral feedback...
And for christ sake, it's just money..

They get those drives cheaper then what they sell them, trust me on this. Technology prices on HD's are getting cheaper so they need to sopt being so greedy.

This sounds a lot like the buy.com hitachi monitor deal. If they offer something at a price, you offer to buy it, and they charge your card... They have to follow through on the deal.

In the buy.com deal there was a class action suit. Everyone got 50 bucks.

I had also had some heat problems with my HD's, but you know a simple 120mm fan mounted in front keeps them nice and cool now. Its a cheap investment that I think most people should consider.
