Hawt deal. Didn't even need one but can't really turn this offer down. My girlfriend is thinking about going wireless soon so I'll just give her my Netgear router and keep this one for myself. 🙂

Thanks OP. $21.47 out the door. Sweet!

can this function as a range extender?

I don't think so. If you look at the OpenWRT table of hardware, this beast seems like is has very little memory.

It works fine enough for me, but with apparently only 4MB of RAM, it might not be able to keep up with the number of connections needed for bit torrent work. Any comments on this?

My network is 100% wired. I got this for my hopefully-soon-to-be laptop purchase. I found that there is no way to turn the wireless network off.

Also, the lights are so bright on the front that they illuminate neighboring unlit lightes. So if you get three computers connected, the display is hard to decipher.

But it IS cheap, and it DOES work, and the size is quite impressive. Small size is not really important for home use, but this would be a great item for the road warrior. Even the power adapter is rather tiny.

This is dead, isn't it? I can't get one...
If they are not available in your area, check Staples. They have it for $45 with a $25 on-line rebate. Grand total of $20.

Ooops! You encountered an error, we have let the webmaster know about the problem.

Edit: the chap just prior to the bad link post had the good link 😱)

So it looks like I can just use this as an AP and not fuss with any of the router stuff if I already have a router on my lan?

FYI, this page is for the WRT54G, not the GC. According to Linksysinfo.org, there is no 3rd paty firmware available yet for the GC. Text

FYI: I tried placing a phone order for this, as it was listed as out of stock in my area (Chicago Burbs), but he said my local store had stock, so I ordered and can pick up from store...so have the CSR check local avaialbility if ya really want this one.!!

Well I opted for local pickup and a CSR called me this morning and told me I need to bring the coupon in with me.

I looked all over the web and couldn't find a coupon.

So they told me they can't accept the price EVEN THOUGH my CC has already been charged.

They said the MUST have the coupon in hand for pickup.

Total BS but I ordered a second on with free delivery so hopefully that one will go through.

Picked mine up today. No questions whatsoever. I even had to pull it out of stock myself...
Nice Deal OP!! I have been wanting to throw one of these in my laptop bag.

Well I ordered this morning for store pickup, order went through fine. Received order confirmation email at 1 pm.

Tried to pick up my router this evening around 8:30 and was told by the manager that they couldn't honor the sale because of an email they'd received about the coupon code not being from Office Depot. So I asked for proof of this, to which he replied I'll check. After walking to back of the store, he returned empty handed and stated he didn't print or save the email. I politely exited the store, returned home to check order status which says order has been filled. WTF:disgust:

I call this # (800)-463-3768 from the email to see if I can get an explanation, or my router. All I get is basically nothing more than I'll put in a request for someone to look into the problem. I had her try to reorder the item, comes up out of stock. Had her call the store in question and they do have it in stock. But won't honor the sale because of what she says this time is a fraudulant coupon code. The kicker is she can find nothing to substanciate that the coupon code is fraudulant, no notes no email no nothing. 😕

Anyone have any ideas???? thanx

I picked mine up instore, and they gave it the stinkeye, but eventally honored the price... He asked me if I had a coupon, and I said "It was an online coupon..." I think he just did a price override...

I picked mine up instore yesterday afternoon... the manager had just pulled the pick orders when I walked in... he got my order out, and said "Wow" about the price, but didn't give me any evil looks or anything, so it's all good... very painless!

I noticed another order for the same item, so I wasn't the only one in my little town that picked this up 🙂

Thanks OP!
