I was browsing around Office Depot looking for DVD's and happened to walk by networking aisle and noticed that they had BOTH the 1mbps(HPN100SK)and 10mbps(HPN200SK)phonline kits for $9.88! There were 2 in stock at the store I was at.

Kewl....I wonder how well these would work with two computers, one hooked up to a DSL connection, for sharing internet access.

It says right on the box that it's compatible with DSL, says it uses a different frequency of the phoneline. I have not however tried it out for myself. But it's a gift for my dad and he's got a cable modem so for him it doesn't even matter :)

Hi Bagger:
Where did you find these good packages?
The online store has the same price but out od stock,
and I could not find in my local OD.
Do you mind get one (HPN200SK) package for me?
Or tell me which store you have been to, so I can call them.
Thanks.

I'm using the 10M one right now and its great. No problems with DSL here.... so go pick it up if you're thinking about getting something like this. I only have 2 computers right now but planning to add a third one. Icq and everything else works fine, haven't had any problems yet.

Office Depot's SKU# is *I THINK* 295551 (It's written in ink on the bottom of the box, receipt just shows UPC code). BTW, to answer an earlier question, I bought these at the Norfolk, VA store. I haven't checked any other stores.

Hm.. I just called OD and the 200sk (SKU: 484601) is selling for 99.99! The website shows 99.99 too.

I'm not sure if I have the right sku though.

dmk11, that's just a USB adapter. That allows you to add a third computer to the network without having to put a phoneline network card inside the computer, you just hook it up externally to the USB port and into the phone jack of the wall. They don't list either kit (hpn100sk or hpn200sk) on their website.

the only way to possibly get one of these is call the customer service and have them check your state to see if there is any left. i found the only 6 left in the whole state of TX. at one store and bought all 6. they are sending them ups and i am paying the ground ship. these are very light so shipping charges are minimal. staples is still carrying these in some stores for $108. yu can't get the free ship unless you can find them in your normal delivery area. GOOD LUCK! these are a greatttttttttttt steal.

actually.......it is on the site. however, only the 1 MB/s is listed, but in stock. i have this, so i am not ordering it.....if it was teh 10 MB/s one......i would ahve jumped on this. but this is fast enough.....even for DSL....and for $10, you can't go wrong.......especially if you have computers in romos that are too far away to just run cables. good deal.....

I have a store in my area with 10 of them...but they say they have an ethernet port for easy upgrades.

My question is, should I stick with my ethernet cards, and buy a longer cable? If I am buying these are they going to be a downgrade?

This deal has been going on for awhile, it started to go on clearance when the Linksys hub network set deal for 14.88 after rebate started, I also got one of the phone network kits but haven't used it yet. Not sure why I got it but for 9.88 what can you say. But about this card what it is, if you use it over the phoneline to connect your network it runs at 1Mbps because that is the capacity of your copper wiring in your house but the thing is that this card also has the function as a 10Mbps NIC card, thus depending on what and where you connect your network depends on what speed it will run on.

when I ask the CSR to check--do I give them the product number (HPN200SK) or does the SKU work (295551)?

Just picked up 3 of the HPN100SK from the OD in Vista, CA (San Diego area)
They had 6, but 3 was all I needed for some stocking stuffers.
Had them check on a 200SK, but their computer didn't show any.
Not a bad deal, $128 list for $9.88.

I picked up five of the 10mbps(HPN200SK)phoneline kits before I saw it on this board. Sweet deal! Check some shopping engines and you'll find a ton of places selling these kits for >$100.
