Finally Crutchfield has a "REAL" HOT deal on a Car Stereo Product!

Kenwood eXcelon z828: $399.95 (on sale from $619.95)
- $25 off 100 coupon for new customers;
==> ~$375 (+S/H)

Crutchfield is an Authorized Dealer so you can get an AWESOME CD/MP3 Player for a GREAT Price w/ a valid WARRANTY! 😀

<< Crutchfield has the worse prices in the business. Better deals can be had locally. >>

not this time, this is one of the best deal i've seen anywhere, z828 retails like $500 at stores.

car audio newbie here...so if this unit does not have an in dash cd player, i need to buy a seperate cd changer? if so, one that reads mp3 cds?

this unit is an in dash mp3 cd player, you burn mp3s onto a cdr and this player reads it.
also this unit is satelite radio ready, got hi-res dot matrix display, really a good deal for 375

I have the Kenwood Excelon 717 and it ROCKS. It has gobs of features as well as a great display and built in EQ. Highly recommended.
And Venomous, please crap in the toilet, not the thread. This is a good deal; no one cares about Crutchfield's normal prices.

This is a great deal. Etronics, which, imo, usually has some of the lowest car audio prices on the web, has this unit for $450

This is a hot deal, at least for now. It's probably about time for the next wave of players to come out, and cruthcfield may have a bit too much stock on them (just a thoght). This model number is about 8-10 months old. I have their first excellon MP3 player...z919. I paid more for it than $400, and I got it at dealer cost at the time. It has been a very nice unit (the best I've owned). If you're in the market for an in dash MP3 player jump on this like a homeless guy over a bottle of ripple. Supposedly it's better than the z919, which is totally awesome. They may get cheaper, but Fleabayers were getting consistently over $400 within the last few months. I don't see these dissapointing anyone. In fact, I'm thinking of grabbing one and giving my wife the z919.

Very nice price on this. So many Kenwood's are on sale now. I have already ordered the 8017 but I may have to sell it to get this one.

If your in atlanta, the kenwood factory outlet has cheaper prices on the 828. Although even they don't have the 200 dollar price for the 8017...

If you ever seen the face, the 8017 looks much better to me. Might want to see it before you buy. (THE display looks like crap IMHO)

For everyone PMing me that can't find or just don't feel like looking for the coupon....
Here's the deal:
1.) You(or whoever you chose to buy for you) must be a new customer, and your order must total $250 or more.
2.)Type "REFERRAL PROGRAM 13265443" in the Special Messages box at checkout OR
mention the code to your salesperson, if ordering over the phone.
3.)Your $25 discount will be reflected on the receipt emailed to you. 😀

it sucks that Crutchfield doesn't offer a regular coupon code, but the price is still hot at $400. But if you want to get $25 off you gotta use someone's customer number. details If you look at some coupon sites they list this deal with a referral number, but I figure you might as well use someone at AT's number instead of some random guy at the coupon site.
But if it bothers you, and it does bother some, then don't use the referral.

I've owned this unit for about a year or so. it is absolutely stunning.
i've owned several sub-$2000 decks (pretty much top of the line of almost every branded manufacturer) and this mp3 deck is right on top with them in term of sound quality.

$375 is a killer deal because they sell every else for over $500 still.

if you have the money and want 10 hrs of songs on 1 CD this is DEFINITELY the only cd player you should look for.

any quesitons you can email me if you want.

This Unit Rocks....

BTW, for the Z919 owners, i had that before the Z828 and i have to say if you use it with one or more amplifieres Z919 does not even COME CLOSE to the clarity of Z828 because it only has 1.5v preamp output voltage while the Z828 has 4.5v....

one thing to think about for the Z919 owners, if you use amps, maybe this is a good time to upgrade, because to tell you the truth, my car sounds hell of a lot better with the Z828 than the Z919 (two orion amps, boston pro series all around and kicker square solobaric)

BTW, one reason to order from crutchfiled is that they will send you in the package, the complete wiring harness and diagram for free...and if you are a newbie, they have dedicated tech support on the phone to walk thru the installation with you step by step....once being a newbie their tech support really helped me...just a thought...

wiring harness will cost about $20 in the stores, they give you for free

Damn...I just got an 8017 from Crutchfield for a lot less than what CarToys would have sold it to me for. I felt like I got a great deal. And CarToys wants just $25 less for the 8017 than what Crutchfield wants for the z828.

Definitely a hot deal. If I had waited, and if I wanted to spend an additional $125, I would have jumped all over this. Still, quite happy with my 8017...

feature wise i think the jvc is probably on par with this one, and the jvc has a motorized plate, pretty fancy if you ask me. many people praised the jvc unit for its price/feature

quality wise i dont know, jvc is not typically known for quality electronics and their car audio line other than the sh-99 isnt liked by many people. you really cant tell the quality right now since this is a unit that is released not even a year ago, so down the road, you might find reliabilty issues. but then again this is purely based on a brand reputation, so make your own decision.

The eXcelon line is good stuff. I used to own the eXcelon X815 but sold it together with my old car. (I have double din now and would rather get such).

For those interested, Kenwood is also coming out with a CD-changer that supports MP3's and once hooked up to your MP3 headunit will also be controllable through it.

I'd also like to add that with the eXcelon series you can add a compass module, temperature and voltage module, a heads up display (coool stuff!) and weather band tuner.

I was browsing on another forum, and they mentioned that this deck was on sale. I just checked the website. It was working one minute and then *poof*, gone the next.

First thing that popped into mind is Anandtech Effect... but the deal is hot enough at sale price that everyone would jump on it.

Looks like they pulled the deal online.

I had the Kenwood 8017 and it died in 5 days...yes 5 days. I got the Pioneer 7400MP for $349 at cartoys and in my opinion is a phenomenal unit.

The page still comes up for me, it just says it's out of stock. Could be their way of stopping the deal but they could just raise the prise instead.
