After getting an order confirmation I got a wierd email requiring me to call in to the credit card department for some kind of confirmation. The status of my order was pending / suspended.
I called (no answer at 800 # buy CS gave me an extension that worked)
confirmed my billing info and told by CSR at the credit dprt that my order was good to go.
I check my order status a few hours later and its cancled with no explenation.
I call in to get the low down and am told essentially that the product was oversold (500 avail, and 260 back ordered - but none will ever come in)
So I say - well I had a confirmation and that isn't a huge amount of orders, I'm dismayed to think that I missed out because my order was put on hold pending some whaky call back requirement. I was assured that this is not the case (which I doubt) but offered a replacement.
Since there are no longer any discontinued Ipods available she suggested I might be able to get the new 10 GB ipod for the same price. I replied that the 20 GB is replaced in the product line by the new 30 GB, and given that I'm sure they can't give me that for the same price, I would be interested in the 15GB ipod for the same price.
A manager was not however available but she would have a manager look into it and get back to me tommorrow. I'm not sure I want the 15GB ipod for 270, I know I can get a new 10GB ipod for less than 200 (new on ebay) and the 5GB capacity extra is not a big deal...
Anyway just a heads up.
