Dont display it. Right click on the rebate link, do a "Save Target As" and save the file to your hard drive first, then open it in Windows.

My PDF viewer in IE gets hosed sometimes also, but opening it in Windows, with the real Adobe reader fixes it.

I couldnt believe that I went to CompUSA today...and they still had 2 (after being out for weeks)

For $19 bucks plus tax, its a pretty fun toy. Tried to install it in my Win98se machine (P3) and it seriously refused, ok no prob. Tossed it in the XP machine, and it works flawlessly. Its on now.

Pretty fun toy.

OH BTW, mine was a PC TV Pro inside (sticker on the card)

Well if you got the PCTV Pro (you got this)

"Studio PCTVpro

Watch TV or listen to the radio on your PC. Studio PCTVpro lets you watch your favorite TV shows in stereo while your work or surf the Internet. Create your own movies from video captured from TV, VCR or Camcorder with the easy to use Studio software. Studio PCTVpro includes TV & FM Tuner, Stereo Audio Decoder, remote and software"

My card also said PCTVpro. Maybe it does have the FM tuner on there but the software shipped with it doesn't support it. Is there a way to get the Pinnacle software for this card? I am going to guess the answer is... not legally.

Man.... Go Figure...the day I have enough money to buy the damn thing, it sells out on the website. Major Doh!!!! Anyone know where else I can buy this card. Frankly, I never intended on getting the rebate from IOMagic due to their less than spectacular performance in that department. Anyplace instore or online works for me.... Thanks in advance.

You can download all the Pinnacle software you want...

HERE

The 98 drivers mention-
"- Radio app
- bugfix WMA-file-support with Windows ME
and installed WINAMP 2.64 or high"

I havent tried any yet, but they may contain the radio drivers.

I checked the retailers who sell I/O Magic, I also did a websearch. No one has the card in stock. Looks to me like an I/O Magic supply problem.

I checked that link to. If you go to the I/O Magic site, they actually refer you to the home page for the I/O Magic storefront for buying on-line which has the following alert prominently displayed:

Attention! Due to year-end inventory, the Magicbuys shipping department will be closed from December 18th to January 9th. No orders will be shipped during this time. We apologize for the inconvenience.

This tells me if I were to buy the card there (for $49+s/h) it would not ship until at least the 9th. I wonder if this also explains why no one else seems to have it either.

I'm not really interested in the capture portion as much as I just want to watch TV on my computer. I have two monitors, and I'd like to set up a multi monitor display where one monitor is web/Word/... and the other is the TV station. Will this card allow that? Will it only put the TV reception on the main monitor or the secondary?

Or, can I use this card in Linux. I have a second computer (server/RH7.1) that I could watch TV on so I wouldn't have to set up a multi-monitor configuration. Anyone know about this?

Since I've got the card I'll try to answer a few of the questions that have been posted.

You should be able to use this card with Linux or *BSD as it's based on the BT848 chipset. I have yet to try this but plan to.

I don't know if the tuner on the card supports stereo, but it's worth noting that audio capture is done through your soundcard, not the PCTV card. So if, like me, you're using an external tuner for audio and video (DirecTV box, VCR) that supplies stereo audio, and you patch it to your soundcard's input and one of the PCTV card's video inputs (S-Video for best quality), you will have stereo audio. I have no need for the tuner in the PCTV card.

Thanks, for some reason I didn't find this on their site... need to cut back on the drugs I guess. 😛

I bought one at CompUSA B&M for $35 + tax.
Installed it on my WinXP Pro using the drivers from the CD (website didn't have any update drivers) and got blue screen at first reboot. I rebooted after that and it works fine. Rebooted a few more times and all seems well.

So far I'm really happy with this card. Captures at 320x240, 352x240, 352x288, 640x480, 720x480, or 720x576.
Captures straight to mpeg1 or mpeg2.
I'm capturing right now as I type at 352x240 and cpu is at 33% on Athlon 1.4ghz.

I'm happy with this card even w/o the rebate. If rebate goes through....excellent.

man, i can't get audio to work. i have to plug the audio out into my sb but i dont' know which one to plug it into, what's the icon/color of the line in thing? i've plugged it into all of them but still no go ):

Maybe also check your sound settings, make sure your line in isnt muted.

Im pretty happy with this card also, all I wanted was TV on the desktop.

<< This is a question for people who ordered it online. Have they shipped out your card yet? >>

No and im getting pissed it says it normally ships in 48hrs and it's been well over that.

I'm hoping that they'll ship it tommorow...I'm pissed because I placed my order at 2am on sunday

When I left about 6pm there were still at least 3 in stock at the Arrowhead ChimpUSA here in Phoenix/Glendale (zip 85382).
