I'm not familiar with the BB Insignia house brand. Reviews seem to go from "good starter LCD HDTV" to "crap". The one common complaint though seems to be that the blacks aren't black enough and that it comes out of the box with the brightness levels high. THX optimizer or AVIA is recommended.

Throw in this 10-12% off printable coupon.

I have Comcast basic cable, can I run the cable right to the Olevia set or do I need a box. Will the pic look ok or do I need to upgrade my cable service? thanks

Built-In HDTV Tuner: Add HD-capable antenna to receive over-the-air high-definition broadcasts, where available. Optional set-top box required for high-definition cable or satellite programming.

Doesn't come with a cable tuner. The picture should look "OK".

Here is my feeling about Insignia TVs. Although a different model than what is being discussed, I think my experience is worth sharing. My TV remote died for my Insignia brand TV and no 3rd party remote will work for it -- I have tried three so far. I even sent one of those 3rd party remotes to the manufaturer to be programmed specifically for the Insignia brand with no luck. TV was about nine months old when the remote died -- pretty flimsy, I think.

I ordered a replacement remote from Bestbuy about three months ago. It is on backorder and I am still waiting. I won't buy another Insignia TV.

Ok...other than the remote, how do you like it?

It is a basic CRT TV so not the same type as your deal, but other than that, it is a pretty good TV. Nice picture, decent sound. Just wanted to let you guys know that product durability is a question and support has been very poor from Bestbuy.

Well, I went and picked it up. 12% off + $70 gift card made it hard to pass up. I couldn't get that with the Olevia at Circuit City so I took my chances.

In the store they didn't even have it showing HD video. They were showing SD stretched and it looked awful. I got one of the BB employees to find the HD channel for me and it looked alright.

This is for the bedroom and my wife is the main viewer and she isn't picky about video quality at all. I got it home and hooked it up and it is acceptable. Calibrated it using AVIA Home Theater and it looks quite good now actually.

Manufacturer varies -- the sales guys can often tell by looking at the back of the TV or by pulling it up in their system. However, for my Insignia Brand TV they could not do so.
