No, I used the other patch that works with 2x/4x media (ltnxxxx.exe, patcher.exe, xxxxxx.bin).

Anyone have links to a page that confirms the 411 > 811? I just bought an 811, so I'm a bit disappointed right now. Paid $105 for it, so I might just sell it and go for a 411 if it's reliable.

Anyone know exactly what bitsetting is used for? I'm know you can covert your burns from dvd+r to dvd-rom which makes it easier for older dvd players to read, but is there a reason NOT to burn all your stuff as dvd-rom?

Good question. In other words, why not use bitsetting right?

exactly, I've updated my 811s firmware to K and I've switch from normal to dvd-rom it works, so I'm wondering if I should burn all my cds with bitsetting.

Whats more compatible with DVD players, the DVD-R or DVD+R?

They're almost equal in compatibility with -R having a slight edge. In very old dvd-players -R works better. If you have a drive that allows you to change the book-type, then +R's can be made to be seen as DVD-Rom's which will play on any player.

from my experience, dvd+r has always been more compatible with dvd players

I have both the Plextor and Lite-On Drives. Did you flash your Plextor with their latest firmware. Also check and sure DMA Mode is enabled in the system properties. It takes about 7-8 minutes for me to burn a DVD+R disc @ 8x. Which all I have been burning are 4x @ 8x.

I realize this isn't the right forum, but where did you find files or instructions to flash the 411s to an 811s?

You might want to change the title to YMMV because I just got rejected also. I placed the order for pickup and it looked good coming to $73 after tax. But when I went there to pick them up the manager told me that I could not use an online coupon to make a purchase in that manner. He told me that paper coupons were fine, but no codes. He said they were wise to people pulling codes off of coupon sites. He was cool about everything. I told him I was sent a $15 off $75 the other day already used it. (Didn't tell him that I used it at OM to get the 8X Optorite for $64.99). I was going to buy them for $89+tax, but decided to try and find a paper coupon. I think my mother may have one I can use.

Apparently bitsetting will not work with DVD-R, but there appears to be no down side at all to using it all the time with DVD+R. Think I'll try several disks with it, if not all.

One other option on this deal is to go to staples and PM there with the 110% gaurentee. Not as good a deal as the OD deal, but for those of you who have been shot down like myself it's an option. Staples disks are also 4X so I'm assuming they are the same RICOHJPNR01 disks that OD sells. Staples regular price is $99 for 50 disks. Sale price would be $80.99 + Tax for 100 disks.

You may want to wait until Sunday if you don't really need 100 now. OfficeMax will have the 25 packs of Imation on sale for $35 and there's a $20 rebate. The ad is up on OM's web site.

The +r's that I received from OD had a blue "tamper proff" label accross where the top flap would open that said 4x. I looked at my local staples and the blue label didn't say 4x. I would check to make sure they say 4x on that blue label.

After all is said and done this deal actually will work out for me. After being rejected for in store pick up I cancelled the order and tried reordering. instead of picking up instore I decided to have them delivered free. Today I get a call from OD delivery guy asking directions to my house. He said he'll be here sometime today to drop them off. Score. 🙂
