Corrected link.

Now this is a great deal. I rent at least 2-3 titles a week, so why not? :)

I'm trying out their 30 DVDs in 30 Days for $19.99 promo because
I don't really need another DVD player. You can get one DVD a day
for thirty days, you return'em when they are normally due back
(i.e. two-day rental, five-day rental), so you can have several out
at one time, just can't rent more than one a day.

Now if I can only get my wife to return the damn things before
noon so we don't get charged an extra rental...sort of defeats
the purpose of a "free rental".

Ignoring for the moment the fact that this comes with a dvd player, why would they even have a product like a 52-week rental card for $200? That still works out to almost $4 per rental, which is about the normal price anyway. Why would anybody buy this card?

I thought that they stopped selling the DVD Pass month ago. Did they start it up again?

This is a really good deal... I know I don't rent a DVD every week, but after reading the 'fine print' on the offer I noted this...

"Rental card expires on the earlier of redemption of all 52 rentals or two (2) years from the date of first redemption." This is pretty good, since this is alot more realistic in my situation, so I can still get the DVD player, and have rentals for 2 years (or less :) ).

Great link, thanks!

I think that only applies to certain states.

Exactly. You're really paying about $60 for the DVD player, if you discount the rental card to $156 (or $3 a rental)

Wal-Mart had a sale on DVD players, $79, last week. It is over, but it will be back. :)

It is not a bad deal, just not the slam dunk you might think it is. :)

The fact that the card lasts 2 years makes it MUCH better. You can skip every other week and still get all your rentals.

If you don't have a DVD player, this isn't bad, I'll probably tell my Mom about it. :)

EDIT

Wal-Mart is selling their lowest price DVD player now for $88.

Unless you are in CA, NH, HI and MA, you don't have 2 years to rent the DVD, you only have 1 year(52 consecutive weeks) once you start. The 2 years provision gives you the ability to start renting in a year, but once you start, you can't skipped a week or it will be forfeited.

"Any week(s) skipped cannot be later redeemed, shall be forfeited and cannot be accumulated for redemption at a later date. "

This is still a good deal as the DVD player alone cost around $100.

Thats a pretty sweet deal if you are able to rent that much.

I am still on that shrek deal and im having a hell of a time trying to find 1 movie a week to rent. Most movies that I want I would just buy on DVD anyway, so my rentals decisions usually take forever and I end up with some crappy movie im settling for. Id never be able to handle 52 weeks of this.

This is good only if BB has a better selection.... my local BB has nothing too much more than 52 DVDs for selecting, not to mention good ones.:|

But this is a good deal for people who don't have a DVD player, local BB has a huge selection, and wish to go to BB everyweek twice(rent and return).

Just return a movie this morning, my local BB is only 1 minute away from home.:)

let's be honest, the dvd selection at blockbuster sucks. they have about 300 different dvd's at the most. Plus returning those damn dvd's are annoying. I enjoy netflix much more. even though they raised their prices a while ago, it's still a good deal to get unlimited rentals with 3 at one time for 20 bucks a month. Especially with their selection.

you make a good point about being cost efficient... but then again, since when are dates cost efficient? the only reason i drop by blockbuster is if i need a movie, and i go with somebody to pick one out. with netflix, unless you rent a movie and then can convince your date to watch it, you'll have to plan and wait for it to arrive in the mail. with blockbuster, you pay for convenience.

with blockbuster, you pay for convenience.

Well, this statement is true only when they have the movie which you want. ;)

Anyway, it is cool to go on Friday nights and pick up a movie there.

I was in Blockbuster this morning right after they opened at 10:00 am with the kids to pick up a DVD copy of The Grinch.

The manager had the new poster laid out on the floor upside down. I watched as she replaced the

"DVD Player, $149 w/10 free rentals" poster hanging over the display model (w/ about five in the box below)

with the "Thanksgiving Day Only, Buy 52-week DVD Rental Pass @ $199.99 and get a free DVD Player ($350 value)" poster

A good chuckle, at least for me. Thanks to this forum otherwise I wouldn't have even noticed...

Happy Thanksgiving holiday to all!
