The purchase process is totally wierd. You have to call them with your cc info.

Mine should arrive tomorrow.

<< Just got one at http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1250838521.

But the problem there is no field to allow me input the credit card info. SO I got an email to say I will pay it by check. Any 1-800-number to allow me give IBM the cc info? Thanks.
>>

Yes, the initial e-mail from eBay is kind of misleading. You will receive another e-mail from IBM with info on how to complete the transaction. I believe these are not auto-generated, but rather are initiated by a person, so don't expect to see one arrive unless it is between their 8:00 - 5:00pm (EST) hours. However, I don't think there is any reason you can't call them before you receive the e-mail, as long as they're open. Just tell them the auction number and your user ID. Then you give them shipping info and CC info.

Info: 877-999-7115, option 5, then ext. 50024 between the above hours.

Congrats on your purchase!!

Well, why take a chance?

You can get guaranteed compatibility:

http://www.dane-memory.com/configurator/SystemDetail.asp?SysID=100769

At Memory Suppliers for $63 (256mb PC100 CAS2 SODIMM Infineon Technologies, lifetime warrantee, 30 day moneyback guarantee) plus $4.95 shipping (for 1-2 units, 3+ and shipping is free).

http://www.memorysuppliers.com/laptopmemory.html

You have to call it in to get that price though (otherwise it's a few bucks more directly from their website). Mention "Price Watch". 800-713-0935

When no-name stores tout "life-time warranty" ... I always have to wonder ... whose life are we talking about ? :D

For $20 more I will stick with Kingston. Thanks.

Wolverine88 - Sorry I don't know if that particular Kingston RAM will work in this laptop but a good point of reference is to check Crucial.com

Those IBM "Buy It Now" auctions charge you over $40 S/H and 6% tax.
They put that in fine print.
You have to add like $100 or more.

That T21 for 1650 was a smoking deal, its better than the employee purchase program offers: 264748U for I think 1699. Basically the same as the one offered except for 20GB HD instead of 32GB and W98SE instead of W2K Pro. If the T21 that was offered beforce comes up again I'll be snagging it.

Definitely true and good to consider before buying... but, when you consider that the price of this particular A21p is $1619 vs a street price of $2600-3100, it is still a pretty great deal. And a charge of $30-40 for shipping on a laptop isn't that unusual.

I am considering buying ThinkPad A or T series from somewhere.
I need DVD, Ethernet built in, and larger screen than 14.1
hopefully 15.
When I searched for ThinkPad deals here, your thread came up.
I do not like auction very much, buy I like Ebay's buy it now.
I keep watching buy it now auctions but the problem is they put
kinda high price.
I found this A21m
I wonder if this is hot or not.

Well, the only deals I've been recommending are the 'Buy it Now' sales/auctions from 'auctions.ibm.com' (direct from IBM). The one you linked to is not from IBM directly, so I'd be as cautious with that as with any other eBay auction. The 'Buy it Now' sales direct from IBM have been listed with great prices, not 'kinda high'. As I mentioned above, do a search by seller for 'auctions.ibm.com' and if any item matches your criteria then check the listed price against current street prices with www.shopper.com (or mysimon or ...). You'll see that they are great. Be aware that auctions.ibm.com also conducts some single-unit traditional auctions too, which may or may not have 'Buy it Now' enabled.

<< Now I am waiting for my 512MB from Dell. >>

Which model ThinkPad did you get? Most of the newer ones max out at 512MB and come with one (of the two) memory slots filled with the standard memory, so you'll be throwing out a chip to add your 512MB.

BBE, when are you getting your RAM from Dell? Can you verify if it works the soonest you get it? I'd want to get a couple before their 20% expires. Thanks dude :)

I bought 2 x 256MB PC100 CL2 SODIMM. Total is $168. Now I have a notebook monster: 15" FT/32GB/512MB/DVD plus IBM brand on it.

Btw, I called IBM and my notebook will be shipped soon. The shipping is $50 using Fedex.
That notebook does come with ethernet/modem ports and GSP deal is not valid on this notebook.

Yeah, I tried that too. They got wise and cut that deal off for any eBay purchases. The lucky folks who bought early and got the GPS should be thankful!

I'm thankful! :)

It's not all that i expected it to be though. Can't even use the unit unless you put it in clear site of the sky and it uses two plugs - one PS/2 for power and one Serial for communications.

Then again it's a GPS :)
