Anyone got their rebates in yet? I see the deal is live once again, thinking of picking up a 2nd :)

I ordered 3 of these today separately on my CC, sent 1 to my house, 1 to the first suite in my office, and 1 to the 2nd suite in my office, so I can get all the rebates :).

Two are for work and one is for home. Can't beat the price.

Well the picture is good. But the quality control is bad! My first one had 3 dead pixels, my second one has 1 dead pixel. I am debating whether to return this sucker. Its a warm deal, not hot. For 50-60 bucks more you can get a lcd with DVI such as that viewsonic from Dell.

Well, I must be exceptionally lucky. Mine has 0. At first when I got it I freaked because there seemed to be one suck on off, but then as I examined it closer with a loop [read: magnifying glass used to identify imperfections in diamonds] I found there was a little bit of sticky crud approximately the size of one pixel on it [after I attempted 'rubbing' and noticed fibers sticking to the screen]. Used a tweezers and VERY careful hand control to pick it off the screen, and it was flawless. So just check for what looks like a flake of skin or something stuck to the screen where the dead [black] pixel is. Subpixels need not apply.

Nope deal is dead now. They jacked the price to $449 and are offering a $50 rebate. Seems they want to make back some of the money they were saving folks over the past few months.

I'm expecting (or at least hoping) that this deal will come back again later this summer.

I went to Fry's yesterday and checked this monitor out. I must say, its a pretty nice deal.

The bezel and stand were pretty good quality and sturdy. The monitor is low profile and did not take up very much space. I also played around with the OSD menu. The AUTO adjustment settings worked pretty well. Brightness was adequate, in fact perfect for my tastes. I've seen some LCD's that are really bright, but wash out dark and black colors. Fortunately, there were some high res pictures loaded on the computer that the monitor was connected to. This allowed me to test the color and clarity reproduction. Images were very clear, colors were accurately reproduced, and brightness was perfect. Color and brightness seemed to be consistent across the entire screen. Black was actually reproduced as black, which was one of the most attractive characteristics of this monitor.

I also did some crude analysis of text and ghosting using Microsoft Word and Internet Explorer. Ghosting was minimal on text (definitely nothing that bothered me). And although this monitor is analog only (this monitor was connected DIRECTLY to the computer's video card...no splitting of video signals), text was clear using clear type fonts. I was able to pretty clearly read text until size 9 in Time New Roman.

I did not notice any dead pixels, but I did not look very closely.

This LCD is impressive for a price of $299, and if it goes down to that price again...it will be hard for me to resist snatching it up and giving my mom my 17" CRT :D!

OK deal is back on again!!!

Checked my local Fry's circular and it is advertised for $299 again. Went to Outpost and it is the same price.

The $299 price should last until August 14th according to the rebates (unless Fry's jacks up the price again). If I don't find a good deal on a lcd monitor before August 14th, I'll have a hard time passing this one up.

Can anyone confirm the specs on the monitor (response time, contrast ratio, brightness) as there seems to be a discrepancy between Hyundai's claims and Fry's B&M specs....? Those of you who have bought it - what specs does it list in the manual?

I'm still unsure about the response time and contrast ratio though...
This thread from FatWallet on a similar model (Hyundai Q17), states that people were presently surprised to find out when they opened up the manual in the box that it states the monitor has 16ms response time.

I think I may just email/call Hyundai directly and see what they have to say.

I have the Hyundai panel in my CTL monitors and they are rated at 16ms, 12 up and 4 down. Very sweet but I run mine in DVI.

Does anyone have any more information on the monitor? This might be a really good deal if it's the 16 or 20ms screen, but I can't find any information on it. First, people seem to be confusing the Q70 and the L70S. The deal is for the L70S. Hyundai's site doesn't list the response time for either model. Tom's Hardware says the Q70 is a (very good) 20ms Hyundai-made screen. They gave the Hyundai screen higher marks than the more common 16ms AG Optronics screen, I believe.

So what is the difference between the the Q70 and the L70S? If this turns out to be either the 20ms or 16ms screen I think I'm going to order it, but it could be something totally different since the response specs arent listed anywhere.

The L70S is 16ms. You can google the full specs off of several german sites, for some reason the L70S wasn't sold in the US outside of Fry's. I think the main difference between the L70S and the Q70 is the Q70 has DVI.

deal is alive again...except now it's 277.99 AR! (Houston Fry's 8/29)

377.99 - 50 - 50 = 277.99AR

i got mine a few weeks ago from outpost.com when they were $299 after $100 in rebates. the lcd arrived with one stuck pixel and i remember reading in a posting that someone "massaged" a stuck pixel so i decided to try that. i gently rubbed the pixel until it became "unstuck" and the monitor has been working fince since then.....just a suggestion.

Can you describe the massaging more? Do you just rub with your finger?

that's pretty much it. i just rubbed the area around the stuck pixel very gently until it became "unstuck". hope that helps.
