Sales units sometimes get a lot of abuse from people touching them and so on, and might be damaged, you could ask to see one from a box.

Plus they have 20 monitors from 1 source.

Hmm, it appears they have jacked up the price $50, but the extra rebate is not dead, it is extended until July 3rd. So, if you are willing to pay $350 for this great LCD, it is still a go.

actually......Hyundai's massive conglomerate was broken up couple of years ago due to financial problems and the original founder/owner passing away. He broke up the company giving each division to his sons. I believe only Hyundai Industrials and automotive are the only divisions still together. Biomedicial, semiconductors, electronics and etc was all broken up and became their own entity while still operating under the same name.

Only conglomerates remaining in korea are Samsung (OT: which doesn't support Union workers) and LG.

So buying a Hyundai LCD has nothing to do in terms of quality with Hyundai Automobiles...not that their cars aren't that good these days.

Anyone who got in on the deal before the 26th
have another copy of the rebate pdf they could
send me? I'm having a hard time finding it again
after i purchased one on the 25th. BTW the monitor
is fantastic, a little grainy, but I think that's an issue
with the onboard nforce2 video and its not so spectacular
2D.

thanks,

dM

alright well i just got back from frys to check this monitor out... the display at frys says this has a 25 ms response time... now this is conflicting with the reports on here that it has a 16 ms response time... is frys wrong? fry's sign says 350:1 contrast ratio too, which is again conflicting with the 450:1 stat in this thread... and yes it is the same brand/model #... please help meh; if this is the 16 ms i'm gonna pounce like a jaguar that pounces a lot

This deal is alive, though. Go to Hyundaiq.com and check out the specs there. I am typing on this monitor right now... and when doing the ghosting tests over at monitor direct it wasn't that noticeable. Speakers are nasal as hell though : )

Hardest thing to figure out was how to 'fold out' the stand onthe bottom. Ends up you have to force it... but I didn't want to do that when it was attached to the back of the monitor, so I removed the claming screws under the two cowlings and then clicked it past the stops. Scared the sh*t outta me... and no dead pixels. Color purity leaves something to be desired though...

Another good thing is that the rebates go through Hyundai, not Fry's, apparently. That's a good thing to me, at least. Direct MFG rebates seem to fare better than clearing houses.

Just press the 'Select/Auto' button. If you still want it better, go into the menu/Clock Phase and tweak it there. Autoadjust does a pretty good job though IMO.

For the people that got in this deal the last time around, what are the statuses of your rebates? Thanks

Ok, I jumped on the deal first time around.
First of all I LOVE this monitor. I have used it for watching movies, gaming, and programming and have had 0 ghosting and 0 complaints. As I mentioned in my post above, the first monitor Outpost sent was DOA, but I callled and had a replacement at my door in 24 hours.
Based on a monitor review at Tom's hardware, Hyundai is willing to replace their monitors with 2 dead pixels. Doesn't get any better than that.
My rebate is stil in the mail, but it hasn't really been that long since I sent it.

dang I got this monitor yesterday. Looks really good until I noticed 3 dead pixels. I returned it this morning. My 15inch Mitsubishi I bought last week had 0 dead pixels! Is this extremely lucky or is 17 inch tft panel such new technology that it has more defects? Would you guys keep a 17 inch screen with 3 dead pixels? What do you think are my chances of getting a perfect tft? Thanks!

My friend picked one up on Friday, and when he brought it home there was a tiny little one, so he decided to pack it back up and drive back to Fry's for another one. However when he brought home the second one, there was still one dead pixel albeit at a less visible location. I guess you can keep trying, as the CSR at San Diego Fry's told us they had over 200 in stock....so maybe buy 2 or 3 at the same time and return the ones with dead pixels if that'll save you time and miles driving down to Fry's?

A Hyundai was rated as the best in the Tom's Hardware showdown of 17" LCD's with 16ms or 20 ms response time, largely due to their warrenty on dead pixels.
