Local Weekly Ad

there are actually five rebates if done in store:

rebate #1: $50 expires: 10/01/05
rebate #2: $50 New Rebate expires: 12/31/2005
rebate #3: $100 Any HP bundle rebate expires: 9/3/05
rebate #4: $100 HP zv6000 rebate expires: 9/3/05
rebate #5: $100 AMD 64 Processor rebate expires: 9/3/05, only if you upgrade to AMD 64 processor.

So thats a total of $400 in rebate, Store only mentions $300's rebates. Doesnt mention rebate #5. You can print the rebates from here. Store prints them the same way.

Important:
Rebate #1: The printer you get with this bundle, eventhough is the same model as described in the rebate, is cheaper then what the rebate says it should be. Just verify with your local manager that you will get the rebate eventhough it doesnt match the qualifying price in the rebate. From replies below, all managers agree to abide by the rebate and say that you will get credit if HP dont give you rebate.

enjoy!

Is this the one with 128mb dedicated video RAM?

I'm toying with getting it (the upgraded price is so damn nice), but I'm kinda concerned about video performance for Guild Wars - will it run acceptably at low res?

Took the plunge, ended up with:
A64 3200+, 512mb (1 stick), 60gb 5400rpm HD, DVD/CD-RW, 15.4 BrightView WXGA, 12 cell battery, 128mb Radeon Xpress 200M, XP Pro, 802.11bg, Bluetooth, and HP 3847 printer. Grand total (including shipping of $45 and 5% sales tax) was $1075.

However... it turns out there's actually _$400_ of rebates online. There's an additional $100 one for buying an A64 or T64 HP notebook. This isn't mentioned in the ad, because the base config uses a Sempron! So, funny enough, you actually _make money_ by upgrading it to an Athlon64! Hard to beat that! Final price for me is going to be $675, which seems highly reasonable for what I'm getting.

I highly recommend upgrading this deal from warm to SMOKING HOT!

You can't - it's in-store kiosk only. The wife and I actually walked down there (it's a couple blocks from our apartment) and dealt with it there.

The experience wasn't terrible - the OfficeDepot guys were obviously clueless, although they at least made the attempt to be helpful. Thankfully, I knew what I was doing in terms of configuration.

Quick update: be _sure_ to get the one with the 128mb Xpress200M. For $16, it gives you an ExpressCard slot (54mm), IEEE1394, 6-in-1 card-reader, and IR, not to mention 4x the internal video RAM. Not entirely sure what the ExpressCard gets you at this stage, but it _should_ provide some interesting stuff in the future (bandwidth appears to be PCIe 1x), such as a gigabit ethernet NIC or HDTV tuner. Definitely handy for future-proofing.

There's an additional $100 one for buying an A64 or T64 HP notebook.

erwos, out of curiosity, why did you opt for the Athlon64 rather than the Turion64? So far my reaserch into buying a notebook points that the T64 being a better deal.

Got the same deal!

- AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (2.0GHz)
- 1.0GB DDR SDRAM (2x512MB)
- 60 GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive
- 15.4" WXGA BrightView Widescreen
- 128MB ATI RADEON® XPRESS 200M w/Hypermemory?
- DVD+/-RW/R CD-RW w/Double Layer
- 54g? Integ. Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN & Bluetooth
- 12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
- HP 3847 printer

$1093.94 - $400 in rebates = $693.94 including 5% VA state taxes (~$50) and shipping ($45).

The turion was not one of the options but still one hell of a deal if you ask me. All the rebate forms are available on the Office Depot website. Hopefully the rebate checks will not be "lost" in the mail!

Turion 64 wasn't an option for the ZV6000, and, frankly, extreme battery life didn't win out over price for me in choice of laptop model. My guess is that we'll see a Turion-compat BIOS for the ZV6000 in the future, so future CPU upgrades might be possible. Not sure what the roadmap is gonna be...

We might have a problem with one of the rebates..... not sure but according to the HP printer rebate, the printer has to be atleast $69 bucks :(. The Office Depot receipt has the printer listed at $49. Not sure if they will honor it since Office Depot does have the printer rebate advertised.

Hmm, good point. I'll go bust their chops about it tomorrow, because, by G-d, they claimed their was a printer rebate in that ad!

Suggest you guys check out the older thread about the Compaq v2000z on here. It has similar info to this - same rebates, same rebate links, discussion about the printer, etc.

Should be able to complain to OD if they don't give you a rebate for the printer, make sure you get a copy of the ad, though.

There's also discussion about that v2000z (and this deal) over at FW. G'luck.

Update: the ZV6000 I ordered on Sunday was processed, and is now in the dreaded "in processing" stage. Not exactly sure why they couldn't have shipped the printer by now, though. I've been spoiled by Newegg!

I really am struck more and more by what an excellent deal this turned out to be. It even turns out the laptop has a standard 939 socket, which means there's at least the _possibility_ of doing an X2 upgrade if HP smiles upon us with an appropriate BIOS...

If it's advertised in the circular, you have until the 3rd to get the rebates. After that the rebate may have expired, but the store still has to honor the ad.
