Isn't this nice? I had my wife order one for me as a Christmas present when the 8500DV was still listed for $289.95 at PC Connection, and it was backordered. That's okay, dear, we'll surely have it in time for Christmas...

Last week she called the vendor, and it was still backordered.

Now it's listed at $90 more and availability "today." Do you think they shipped us one? Nah.

Just called PC Connection customer service. Even though the web site says the 8500DV is in stock, "It's not," said the CSR, "Let me get you an ETA." Hold. "I can't get you an ETA...I'll have to talk to the buyers, and they're out today. Give me your phone number, and I'll call you back later this week."

Are they trying to chisel their way out of selling me this at $289.95? (Their selling price is now $379.95.)

Did you tell them about your order? You should just ask them if they have any 8500DV in stock, if he says yes.............then it'll be the time you yell

I ordered one of these from PC Connection back when the deal first surfaced. I still haven't recieved *any* indication that they've done anything with my order. I asked the support person about it, and she said that the item # isn't in the computers anymore for that item, and then she quoted me the regular price. I just told her to cancel my order. I suggest everyone do the same, as you might never recieve your item.

I just spoke with a CSR at PC Connection (I had to call them; of course they didn't call me). They claim that the 8500DV was posted with the wrong price ($289.95) due to wrong information provided by the manufacturer. Please hold. They offered to sell it to me at the "right" price ($379.95).

That's very high, I told them; buy.com has it for $318.95. Please hold...we'll sell it to you at buy.com's price--that's just about our cost, they said.

If you knock off shipping, you got a deal, I told them. Can't do that, they said. Let me think about it, I said.

PC Connection's shipping is $5 less than buy.com's.

So now what?

They screwed up the way the things were named. I dealt with this problem 2 weeks ago and found out that the 289 was incorrect and it was like the regular 8500. Dont count on gettin a DV for that 289 price. That is just too good so I would look somewhere else because there customer support sux0rs as well.
