I'm running a Barton 2800+, with stock cooling, in an Antec SLK3700BQUE case, with a 120mm exhaust fan. My CPU diode is 60' C, and the CPU is 52' C. That is when i'm in windows, listning to music, surfing the web, and talking on the IM. Is it just me, or does that seem REALLY hot? I don't even want to imagine what it goes to when playing HALO :Q

go with a good aftermarket heatsink and good heatsink grease. should do alot better then

normal if your just using the supplied wax. put some thermal grease on the sucker and you'll see a huge drop. you can get a cheap $3 tube at your local radioshack.

Take off the heatsink and reapply or apply your own thermal paste...Use Artic Silver and apply very thin....

You may not be making very good contact or that the thermal paste is too thick....

I think it is too hot...What motherboard???


I had a Barton 2500+ which came with the Barton 3200+ copper base heatsink and on a buddies system with 2 80mm case fans besides the power supply it idled at 38c oc'd to 2.2ghz or 3200+ level...it didn't even load much past 50c with prime95 running for 48 hours...

every heatsink is totally different as well as airflow.

I was looking at the Thermaltake SilentBoost HSF combo. If I paired that up with some Arctic Silver, would I see a large difference in temps? Even with only one exhaust fan?

Why not just add another 120mm fan in the front, as an intake?

52C is hot but you should be fine as long as you're prime95 stable. My mobile barton at 2500mhz at 1.825v runs at a steady 50C and I haven't had any problems. My computer actually pumps out heat to the point that it heats up my entire bedroom tho.
