It's not really that high end - It's alright. Pretty plain features. Just like any other players. Got it when it was on 800.com with MSN passport offer.

Rebate works for any purchase of the Panasonic, as far as I know. I bought mine at Mercata. It'll end up being $100 after the rebate.

The player is "high end" in the sense that it was Dolby Digital/DTS output, component video out, and is highly regarded for excellent sound and video quality. It is not "high end" in the sense of a built-in decoder (a waste, IMHO) or progressive scan or multiple disk capability. It's an excellent player though.

Nice price for minimal effort.

I just placed my order for this-when I placed the order the $50 discount was applied but the confirmation I got from Amazon shows the purchase price to be $229.99. I'm emailing them now.

Hopefully this works-I missed the deals last week and this would be a good buy.

$50 off $200 coupon is no longer working. My order confirmation came back at full price, even though the summary screen showed the $50 discount.

The CSR said the coupon is no longer valid because it has been "distributed without Amazon's approval."

There you go.

I got the same total in my email confirmation. Cancelled the order and tried again with the same results. Now I'll probably end up with two over priced DVD players.

On that Amazon Electronics coupon, last night I used it again, forgetting I already had on another order, and it gave me an error to this effect "We're sorry, this promotion can only be used once per customer...feel free to pass it on to a friend" (don't quote me, not exact words but you get the idea), so what's that supposed to mean about being distributed without Amazon's approval? They essentially gave permission to pass the thing on.

After you get your order confirmation, go look at the order status on their site. The discount is reflected there.

My confirmation (HTML version) just listed the item and its retail price -- no discounts or anything either -- but neither has anything else I ordered from them lately, and all have had coupons applied.

...just check your order status...

Ok,

I just did the same thing, and it went thru just fine, until I got the email, full price. Same thing when I check the status of the order. So, I can't find the Amazon phone number anywhere..can someone pass it to me.

*****Got the number...

UPDATE..Called and talked to a CSR who said that it is a legal coupon and he didn't know why it didn't go thru for me, he reduced the price $50 instead, already confirmed, GREAT DEAL!!!

thanks.,...Sam

I just placed an order with Amazon using a $10 GC. It showed up in the total when I checked out, but not in the confirmation email. Apparently, the confirmation email doesn't reflect GC, wierd but I assume they will bill my card correctly.

Best place for reviews of audio products that I've found is here. The problem I have with eopinions.com (often cited here also) is that people are posting there for money (I do it, too, though I keep my reviews honest and detailed -- many people just post a few sentences to get some hits, worthless). Audioreview is great since, for instance, the RV30 has about 40-50 reviews which you can read quickly for an overall idea of how many people like the product.

I canceled my original order & then re-ordered based on subsequent comments here. I still am not getting the discount on my confirmation or amazon's site.

Could someone please email the CSR's phone number so I can straighten this out? I really want to get this DVD but am not willing to overpay.

Thanks.

Thump553,

I don't think you have to worry about the coupon being taken off. I replied in another thread that Amazon had a glitch and the order confirmation wasn't showing the coupon, but it *IS* being taken off. As far as I know, the # to Amazon is 1800-201-7575, so call it and confirm.

Bigbigsavings:

Thanks for the CSR # (and the original post). I eventually got thru to an order specialist-Lisa-who said was second time today she saw this, that my order has already shipped but that she would refund $50 to my card. She said it was a valid code and had no idea why it didn't work.

Now I'm psyched-this has got to be better than the piece of sh** Raite DVD player I got from CompUSA in April for $190-90. That one worked poorly and died a month ago-outside warranty, of course.

Check the specs on this DVD player. It a first or second generation unit. It has no special features of any kind, just the basics. The thing was first on the market a year ago probably. I bought the Sony equivalent of this player over a year ago and paid about $240.

This is a warm deal. There are a lot of DVD player like this at any B&M for under $150.

I say spend the extra money and get a DVD player that can do all the eye candy: zoom, multiple angles, etc.

Thump553,

The $50 was *NOT* taken off your total before the credit card was charged? As far as I understood what was going on, it was just the order confirmation that was showing the incorrect amount, but the correct amount was being charged. Can you explain exactly what happened? I placed an order for one of these too, but still haven't received my order confirmation, so I want to make sure they didn't charge me an extra $50.

Thanks.

I think you need to either call the CSR to have them "MANUALLY" put in there.

From what I understand, the $50 was not taken off my order before the chargecard was charged, but I was later given a $50 credit to my chargecard. (ie, $229 charge and $50 credit both posted to my card). I haven't gotten the chargecard statement yet. The $50 credit showed up on the order just before I placed it, but didn't show up on the email confirmation or in rechecking Amazon's website.
