go to compusa...they have the c200 for 139-40 rebate...but they are out of stock so the give you the 215 as a replace..........sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

this is a nice 1.3mp cam. usb.

Probably isn't nationwide substitution, but my CompUSA in Rockville, MD was doing same thing.

It only has 4 MB CompactFlash card, though, but they also have 16 MB CFs for $30-10MIR. I have not dealt with CFs before, so I don't know if it is a good price. Higher capacity CFs seem to go for about $1 per MB, so it is probably not too bad a deal.

Woohoo! I'm stoked.. Picked up the camera and the 16mb flashcard. There was a line of people getting this deal. The employee said that it was a misprint. This 215 model looks 100x better than the 200 model, and it's also 1.3 megapixels.

They have a review on ZDNET about this camera.
The upside is it is autofocus and has a 2x digital zoom, however. Here are some of their complaints.
"Unfortunately, the optical viewfinder has no frame marks, and the LCD viewfinder is jerky, grainy, and indistinct"
"The PhotoSmart's images (captured on a 4MB CompactFlash card) were sharp but overexposed. Our test pictures had no true blacks and few highlight details. Unfortunately, the camera doesn't have an exposure compensation feature, which might have fixed these problems."
And going back up...
"Though you do get some high-end features (an auto-focus lens and digital zoom), the PhotoSmart is best suited for budget-minded users who want to view their images as soon as they shoot; if you can live without the instant feed back, we suggest you try another camera."
Photosmart 215 Zdnet review

It's a great price at $99 after MIR but if someones looking for kodak quality shots you won't get it out of this camera. If your looking for some relatively decent shots to supplement your film camera this is a great deal though. If your looking to replace your film camera though check out the Kodak dc4800 deal in this forum. Mind you, if the images weren't overexposed I probably would have considered this over the DC4800.

They substituted the 215 for me. As I read the rebate form, you can send a "Copy of the original UPC", as opposed to the original.

i just took some pics with it.........and let me tell ya, this cam is plenty kick azz.
the images are great with the superfine quality picked....so phlllllllllllllll to the guy with the 3.1 mp camera. lol

I was at the CS getting my receipt figured out (I picked up a 40 GB HD that was on the front page and the guy almost let me walk out with it cause he didn't ring it up-I'm way to honest *sigh*) and the manager at the store walked up to the CS person helping me that the c200 was getting subbed with the HP 215 and also one of the camcorders was being subbed too (can't rememeber which one but it was $199). I wasn't overy impressed with the 215, but oh well for $99 you don't need to be that impressed.

went to CompUSA in Woodland Hills, CA and they were substituting the C200
with C215 so i went a payed for it but the girl at the cash register was
arguing that it's not the price that i was stating so she called the manager and the manager told her that to ring it up as 179.99 then she press total so i told her to take the 40 dollars instant savings off she
said i already did (what a dumb person) kept arguing so she said to go
to customer service and take care of it there so i did and the girl at CS
could not understand either so they called the manager so the manager said
to just ring it up 99.00 dollars and i kept my mouth shut coz i still have
a mail it rebate of 40 dollars. so 107 - 40= 67 dollars out the door
for an HP C215

Wise man, although it would have been hard for me to hide my grin. You just got a $200 Digital Camera for $67 after rebate, hot diggity!

Pretty sure the deal ends at close of business on Saturday (tomorrow). Thanks for this great post - called CompUSA and verified so I'm getting mine tomorrow morning and have already turned several people on to this deal. Getting the camera for half-price is definitely worth it! Has anyone tried taking any close-ups? I'm buying the camera to post pics of stuff I'm selling on the web and need fairly clear shots from a couple of feet away (or closer for small components). Any info? Thanks!

Nice Deal. I just wish there was a Comp USA in my area! I may just have to travel this weekend. Thanks for the post! 😉

Whoo-hoo! Got the camera first thing this morning and have been fiddling with it ever since. It has macro mode so the close-ups are sweet. The included software is pretty good too - much better than I expected. There were about a dozen in stock at the North Austin store. Pretty sure this deal ends tonight, so go get 'em while you can! And you might want to pick up a Digipower AC adapter because after tinkering with this thing all morning, my batteries are near dead. Doh!

<< you know compusa. only at the ones out of stock

If they are not out of stock, try make them out of stock.
Then buy HP215 for$99.99
Then return their inventory of the cameras 😉

j/k

got the hp 215 camera for $139.99 - $40 rebate, then got a FREE 32mb compact flash (since their current ad says FREE compact flash with any advertised camera!) a killer deal!

Just picked one at Santa Clara store. $179.99 - $40 instand rebate brings it down to $139.99 + tax. The guy at store won't give me 32MB CF, he said it's only for 5 Digital Cameras on AD.
