How did you do add 3.2, WXGA, and Wireless - and make it 1500 even? Can you give me a step by step with links provided? This is my first time buying something from dell.

The base price for the 9100 is already 1549. Why do you need to add stuff?

Make sure to take the price without the 10% off.

So do you think BustaBust is talking about 1500 even on the 10% off price?

The $750 off only applies to the base price right?

xmykro........

I chose the 9100 laptop with 3.2ghz HT WXGA

then just add the 60 gig hard drive and wireless 802.11b/g to get 1500 even

then if you're CST wait til 6am and enter the coupon code in and buy it......EST will be 7am

This is how I configured mine, but you can obviously change it to meet your needs.

Go to Inspiron Notebooks

Thats it.

Games must look like garbage too.

Any other reasons to use this res. ?

Need to add about 80-90 bucks.....already added hard drive

What else should I add?

Thanks.

Finer/more pixels, better image quality. Games would look better but the bottleneck would be the vid card of course. Just switch to 640x480 on your system and you'll notice the difference. Text is blocker, you can see image "imperfections" and of course a lot less room to work with (extreme example though).

Last time I checked, Dell UXGA screens tend to have a higher contrast ratio and the screen is sorta mirror/CRT glass like, not matte. Don't think this applies to their wide aspect screens though.

I wouldn't want to see the imperfections. lol

So what do you think then Braxus....WSXGA or WUXGA or WXGA

Keep in mind that I'm fine on 1024 and I do not ever change it off of that.

I wouldn't want to be stuck on 1024 if I could get better quality/size though.
Especially if it was better for the money.

Let me know and thanks.

But I heard the $750 off only applies to the base price(the price crossed out). Is that right, or will the $750 off work with the 10% off they have right now?

I am thinking about getting this:

total is $1516-750 = $766

Inspiron 1000
Mobile Intel® Celeron® Processor 2.20GHz, 14.1-in XGA, Microsoft® Windows® XP Home(Default setup with 1 yr wrnt)

Axim X50v, Intel® 624MHz, 128MB ROM 64MB SDRAM, VGA screen 802.11b, BT

Dell Digital Jukebox 15GB

BUT, I fear the total for the laptop itself must be 1500. But if not, Woot!

xmykro.....those discounts will still apply tomorrow, for they expire on Wednesday.
Tylanner....I think they cut 750 off of an Inspiron that totals 1500 or more, so if that inspiron doesn't equal 1500 by itself...I'm guessing you are S.O.L

Unless dell has another oops, you wont get the 10% off.

Man they better not!
If they do, I'll cancel my order and write to them, an unpleasant message.

In my opinion, the WSXGA+ is the sweet spot. Not restricted by the 1280x800 res [1024x768 4:3 equiv] if you're already used to higher resolutions. It's also not so small that you'll be squinting using default font sizes. Given that Dell specs their wide aspect monitors the pretty much same (viewing angles, contrast ratio, etc.), WSXGA+ would be good all around.

Now if you were getting a 4:3 LCD, I'd definately get the UXGA one, the viewing angle as well as brightness/contrast quality on those screens are a huge improvement over the standard matte type finish type ones found on the SXGA+ and below screens. Ever crowd a friend's notebook from an angle and the colors seem to be off or can't see things too well (pop in a DVD that has dark scenes and you'll see this)? This viewing angle issues are greatly reduced on the mirror/CRT like LCD screens. Downside is that sometimes, depending on the lighting in your area, you can see a slight reflection on the screen.

Wow.....either way WXGA doesn't hurt for me.

Screw a reflection and tiny entities on the screen :)

I've been eyeing the 19' LCD TV ever since it came out.
Just perfect for me room as a monitor and TV. BUt since it just came out it won't drop in price for a while.
Note: the newer Dell LCD TV has better specs, a remote and just a better looking LCD.
I was targeting $700 as my buying price.

So I'm buying the cheapest laptop they got. The 1000 for $799 and add the LCD TV for $899.
Gonna be $950 for me. I figure I can at least sell the laptop for $400 which leaves me $550 for the LCD :)
Hope this work.

BTW: 45 mins and counting.

Will that work with adding the TV?, I was thinking of buying the cheapest laptop and adding on the Dell Projector for $899 getting my total up to $1600. Or maybe I'll just go with the 8600 laptop and be satisfied, still tryin to decide :)

It would be nuts if you could add stuff like x50 and Mp3 players or Digi's, but its doubtful.

THE TIME IS APPROACHING lol

NO, there is an option below all laptops to add an external LCD/TV which is why I think it will work.
Maybe...maybe not.

I don't think I've ever waited like this for a coupon code to become active for so long... I hope there isn't some coupon that somehows beats this in the near future.

For people who are going to get the 700m, what is your configuration to get past $1500 mark?

What freakin suck is that my sibblings are in 4 states and Dell charges tax in all 4.
Before I always have the expensive stuff shipped tp Cali then to Fla.
Then Virginia ===> Fla.

Now Dell charges tax in FL, NC, CA, VA. They're spreading like virus.

Dont worry about that. As of this morning, the minimum configuration is already 1449! (since the 750 off will take away the 10% off, if my guess is correct)
