I remember a slogan from High School, " Just say no", but these deals are worse than drugs.

Anyone know the difference between the "Intel PRO Wireless 2200" and "Dell Wireless 1350"? It seems as if the Dell wireless networking card seems to be a bit better since it uses less watts and is CCXv2, but then it won't OFFICIALLY (by Intel) be a Centrino, if you don't get the Intel wireless networking card?

Anyone know if this will apply to Inspiron's from the Dell Outlet?

No, it will not.

There are separate 15% off Dimension, and 15% off Inspiron coupons (expiring 10/20/04) for the Dell Home Outlet.

Right now the prices on the Pentium M cpus are kind of high compared to the Small Business Site. For example, if you look at a Lattitude d600 on business site and Inspiron 600 on the Home site, the Inspiron faster cpus are way higher than the biz site.

I think that since Intel just cut Pentium M prices Dell needs to cut loose on some of the older chips bought at the higher price and quick. I'm just hoping they'll update the prices a bit so they're closer to the small biz cpu prices.

Still, even at the current prices I could spec out a pretty nice 600 Inspiron for 1500-750-750.

Thanks.

I would keep it as close as possible to the base configuration, maybe go for the 60GB hard drive or one of the better displays.

Keep the undiscounted price near $1500 to keep the discount at the magical 50% point.

Agreed.

Go for the least amount of RAM, as RAM is cheaper elsewhere and VERY easy to install.

I promised my wife a more compact replacement for her old Inspiron 8000. I think she'll like the 700m.

Thanks for the post!

You're very welcome. I just recently bought my wife an ultraportable as well. They're definitely convenient.

Jumping on the 8600 over the other Dothan laptops because I don't need a small screen. This is the first deal I've jumped on in a LONG time. Make that ever. I'm gonna regret this though, duty is gonna kill me.

I heard the 8 cell battery on the 700m will stick out an inch or so, does anyone have a pic of that? I just hope it doesn't add too much weight to the machine.

So very tempting. But I'm trying to hold out for a PowerBook. Need one to do video editing, web design, layouts, etc. But a new laptop for ~$750 is such an awesome deal.

Must resist.

Good stuff! I'm going to try and take advantage of this by ordering on Dell.com from Canada and shipping to my cousin (who comes back to my city every 3 weeks) in the US. I hope everything goes smoothly... *crosses fingers*

I'm going for the 8600
