It's in today's Fry's ad. 600 lines horizontal resolution, 3 line digital comb filter, MTS Stereo, Glow universal remote, Colorstream COMPONENT Video inputs! This is NOT some old model, it's a new one that is top rated by consumer reports! My Dad just bought one down there...

Grr! I paid $499 for the top-of-the-line 27" Toshiba Cinema Series back in July 2000.

Can you please post the Toshiba manufacturer's model #? If this is comparable to their Cinema Series then it is a SMOKIN' DEAL!

(waiting for the onslaught of Sony WEGA posts)

FRY'S only puts THEIR # in the ads, so I don't know the Toshiba model #. But the retail price is $399 at Fry's. I'll get the model # on here when I see it at my Dad's. I doubt it's Cinema Series for this price!
This deal isn't for me since I have my 32" WEGA all set up now! ;) LOL and a 27" Sharp already in my room.

Good because otherwise I'd go balistic!

Can you still post the Toshiba model # after you get it? Thanks!

Toshiba model # 27A50
This model is RANKED #1 in THIS MONTH's Consumer Reports out of 26, 27" TV's rated!
We got my Dad's all set up, it looks great compared to his OLD Sony.
The Fry's Ads shown online don't have it yet. It was in TODAY's SJ Mercury News, Front secton. Have FUN peoples, GOOD, CHEAP TV for CA folks!

I have the frys ad from the LA Times in front of me and only see a cheap unbranded 27" TV for $200. Is the deal specific to certain locations?

thanx

yeah I just called Fry's in Southern Cal and they said it was $400, so your ad in the San Jose newspaper says $250?

They had a Toshiba 27" for the same price here in Phoenix. I'm not sure if it's the same model, but I'd assume it is. It said price is valid until the 12th. They also had a Samsung 27" for around $180.

So the price in the ad in Phoenix says $250 too? Damn there is nothing in So Cal ads that even recognizes this price as of yet. You think if they call one of the other Fry's they'll give it up for $250?

<< I am wondering why only Sony makes Flat Screen TV >>

Sony isn't the only one making flat screens. Aiwa is - 20" model at the moment. JVC is - 27" runs $799 @ Sears and has a better picture than the 27" Wega. Philips-Magnavox does: 27" and 32" flat screen models of which Circuit City has, but the prices are nearly the same as the Sony Wege in the same respective sizes.

<So the price in the ad in Phoenix says $250 too?>

Come to think of it, it may have been a different model. They have these little cards on top of the model that list the features of the item. I didn't see PIP listed for that model. It did include digital comb filter and stereo. It also didn't list the inputs and I didn't bother to check if it had s-video. Also, the ad for Phoenix didn't have this TV listed. It only had some unnamed 27" for $200.

if you also wanted something expensive from the Good Guys. You could buy it at the GG's, then take in the Fry's Ad and pricematch for a gift check for 200% of the difference. If my math is good this morning. That would be a $298 GG's gift check. would come in handy for a QUALITY receiver or speakers...

This is a very good deal on this TV. I used to work for a retail chain and this particular model cost us very close to $300 at our cost, so this is a GREAT deal. $399 is definitely the regular retail on this TV. Toshiba makes the best TVs hands down. I have no doubt in my mind about that. Except for high-end TVs. Consumer brands though, Toshiba is the best.

okay if my fry's history serves me correctly, they went from a grocery store with some slavage computer parts, to a computer store with snacks by the check out? well than why can't they expand out of california? I have to ask my uncle to pick me up all these deals, but a tv? shipping would kill the deal, grrr. Oh well.
