I got the notebook for $425 + tax at the Reading, PA store. I used a copy of the HSI coupon that I printed off the computer and it worked fine.

Can you post a link to the coupon?

Ditto on that coupon, could somebody please post a copy?

*Edit* I found them in the slickdeals forums along with all the info

You don't even need to sign-up for high speed internet, there are coupons posted in the slickdeals forum.

1. Print out one of the coupons below preferably an ISP that is located in your area, it might look weird trying to use a $100 coupon for an ISP that is not in your area.

2. Bring the laptop to the counter, it should be $525

3. Tell the sales person you signed up with "X" ISP (Whatever ISP is on your coupon..for me it's Comcast) and tell them you were given this coupon to print out for $100 off a laptop at Best Buy.

4. They scan the generic bar code and you get $100 off.

The bar code is not specific to anything, just a general bar code they scan and takes $100 off. You can't get in trouble for not actually signing up.

If any of you want more info, just read all the posts on the slickdeals forum link I posted above, they have numerous people using those printed coupons above that worked and all the details.

Like two even hotter deals?

I'm tempted to get this laptop, but I might just wait till BF.

Just a quick update

The Printed coupons online - many BB have already received an e-mail from their corporate stating to verify that the coupon is in your name.

Also, it is a law in the US that any contracting has a 3 day/72 hour cooldown period, meaning even if you sign a contract stating that there is no cooldown period, there still is one due to it being a federal law.

I had to use the said law one time when i got ripped off on a car deal 😛

Good luck to all of you guys, and I am happy this deal has worked for so many of you!

Anyone know if this is still valid? I ran out to my bestbuy because it said online they were in stock..well apparently their system is screwed and its down at all their stores near pittsburgh, pa. We checked the shelves at the store I went to, none in stock. They also called 2 other stores, but they didn't see it..although I really doubt they checked very hard. They said the price for it was $675 or so though, not $525. I'm gonna check again later if their system is up to see which other store around says its in stock, and try going there.

Confirmed for Biddeford, ME @ $599. Price on the tag said $675. Rang up as $599. $100 off = $499 + tax = $529 out the door. 3-4 left.

The HSI sign up with Time Warner is laughably easy.

Confirmed in the Portland OR/Vancouver WA area.

Mill Plains location said they 3 left as of Friday. (Minus 1 thanks to me...)

It was 649, but they price matched (after i used some charm and good looks on a sales rep) other WA stores down to 525.

Went in, chose the comcast deal, and out the door at $424.99.

This thing smokes.

(The best buy people took about 30 minutes of farting around on the computer educating them selves about the 100$ off deals. Had I chosen verizon, they said there would be a contract. So I chose comcast, and it simply generated a coupon.)

I called my local store and the price is $749.99 (same as online). I assume their prices change on Sundays like most stores.

EDIT: Though perhaps datwater and Shining One could comment on whether they went in today or yesterday?

I bought one at Gurnee IL BB. It was $525, there were 12 left according to them.

When?

EDIT: I called the Gurnee store, and the price is still $525, so I guess this is still good depending on your store. Perhaps my local store just checked the online price instead of the in-store price... guess I'll take a nice Sunday trip out there.

this was just this morning 09/14/08. $599. should have pushed for the $524 PM.

The Gurnee location did say that the price couldn't be price-matched since it's a sales item, but I'm sure that depends on the store too...

I bought it on Saturday.

I'm a bit confused. This has a Centrino Processor. Claims online say it's a 32 bit processor but it comes with Vista 64 bit?

How does a Centrino Processor compare to?

Centrino is a platform-marketing initiative from Intel. It covers a particular combination of mainboard chipset, CPU and wireless network interface in the design of a laptop personal computer. Intel claimed that systems equipped with these technologies should deliver better performance, longer battery life and broad wireless network interoperability.

Centrino is NOT a processor, it's a platform which includes Intel Processor, Chipset, and Wireless.

I went to one Best Buy in Jersey and it was in stock but wasn't on clearance. I called two others and they had no idea what I was talking about regarding this laptop being on clearance.

Alright thanks,

so from a motherboard/processor perspective it should be pretty reliable through all laptop manufacturers?
I still feel like Gateway is a crappy company.

I'm sellin this one or I'd open it up and play with it. It's really tempting. Review's I've read said it's really nice though.

Ok, just got back from best buy, (waterfront location was only one that had any i could find in stock near pittsburgh, pa, still have 1 or 2 left when I went there). Once the sales people found it, they said it was still $749, i figured i'd just buy it for that and PM it at another bb that had it cheaper, but it rang up $525. Comcast(verizon asks for ss# and other info) rebate applied, it was like $450 out the door. Awesome find, thanks a ton guys

FYI, Best Buy doesn't officially price match clearance prices.

The BestBuy.com Price Guarantee does not apply to competitors' offers; third-party offers; online auction sites; shipping charges; clearance, Outlet Center and open-box items (when price matching with a Best Buy store); special offers or promotions such as mail-in incentives, gift-with-purchase and financing offers; services such as installation; or typographical errors. Best Buy stores in Puerto Rico have their own price match policy.

Anyone pick up multiple ones and are looking to dump them off? PM me. I completely understand if you are ebaying them instead.

There are quite a few people eBaying them...

It's rather obvious when they say in the description that it includes the "original Best Buy receipt" and the auction has started in the last 24 hours.

Just bought one for $425 before tax, rang up $525, I told the guy I signed up for Comcast internet through the BB website and got this $100 coupon, and then I showed him the Comcast PDF coupon I posted before. He scanned the bar code and $100 was taken off.

I also tried using a 10% off coupon I grabbed from the postal office change of address coupon package but it wouldn't work, he tried scanning it but it wouldn't go through.

I went to another BB store to buy another, but when they scanned the bar code on my $100 off coupon it wouldn't go through, so a manger came over and told me since it was clearance, they couldn't take any more off. I told her I just bought one from another store for $425 after the $100 coupon and she said it must have slipped through because they are not suppose to do that.

But whatever, I managed to grab 1 at least.

federal way had 1 for 524 but they couldn't find it, thinking about trying northgate again to pm it. i have my comcast coupon ready
