Wow! 14,631 for a 2 dr SE. Now, that is a steal. Which dealer did you purchased the car from? and no less 14,631 on the road. Is this a 5 speed or auto? Civics LX usually go for about the 14k range. But an Accord for that price, this is unbelievable.

I think the price before tax, tags, trade, etc was 17,200 (I don't remember if that was with or without freight)

And I thought i got the cheapest Accord 4DR EX V6 loaded @ $20,500 (15-30 minutes chat) or ($22,750 out the door). Though, i am in the Bay Area where cars are a bit more than Southern CA.

Hey vfdfs2, which dealer was this at?

yesterday I took in (not knowing) last weeks ad on the EX leather and auto at buena park Honda for 189XX. This is because they still had one of the two cars with this deal left. It is a black one. Anyways they wouldn't give it to us unless we get about 8000 in stupid options like alarm, warrenty and other garbage. oh well I am gonna wait for new ads or get a Millenia. Since relatively the Millenia you get more off about (8000) comparative to accord that get about 4500 or so.

Hi,

I don't see any loss leader in my aread, so I did the email thing as discussed in the other thread, so far it worked great! I'm looking for a accord se 2002 both in local area and a city 70 miles, another city 180 miles away. The 180 miles one offers $18,300 drive-out price, the 70 mile one $18,500. All other dealers warned me that these prices can't be true and watch out. I'm a little scared. Should I set up appt. with both to be safe? Do I still wait till the 2 offers are the same, but the closer city should charge me higher, right? Any thoughts? I just don't know what to do if I go to the closer dealer first and decide to buy, then I just cancel the 2nd appt.? Help, please ...

hey mousetail,

$18,300 sound reasonable.
18,200 is how much I paid out the door for my silver accord SE 4 door, wheel lock, moonvisor, mud guard. I am in Virginia, so there might be little difference in tax.

car price : 17399.35
dealer's bussiness license tax: 35.20
VA titling tax: 527.95
title fee: 10.00
license fee: 28.50
processing fee: 199.00

Good luck..

You guys seriously need to move to Oregon, I can't believe how you're all getting ripped off compared to the deals you can get here.

Accord SE automatic $16,944 out the door (well plus $113 title/licensing fees).

No sales tax.

I would have them fax you the details in writing... thats the only way you can be sure... call and talk to the manager of the dealership... the reason why some dealerships says the price you are getting is impossible is because they can't touch it... the dealerships that sell more cars can sell them for less... thats how it worked out for me... I got my car out the door for less than others were just charging for the car (before tax, tags, freight)...

good luck

I just have to relate my story from this evening -- if I don't get a chance to vent, I may actually bomb this guy's house. (j/k, law-enforcement types!)

We went into HONDA CARS OF CLARKSVILLE (Indiana) the other day, looking for a Silver EX V6. They didn't have one, but George, the sales guy said that he would call if he came across one. Well, he called today, and my wife and I went in after work. After they finished pulling the tape off the car, we test drive it, and decided that we wanted to see if we could get it.

HONDA CARS OF CLARKSVILLE is offering the Accords at a pretty good price right now -- $22,055, which is (MSRP - $4500). They are also doubling the manufacturer's warranty to six years, 72K miles. Granted, this is a fairly good price. It's actually close to the price I was going to walk in with, which was $21,978. Given that they were offering it at this price, though, I had to ask for some add-ons.

At first, to see if they would bite, we asked for them to throw in the spoiler ($499 MSRP). Sales guy pretty much nixed that, so we asked for, and stuck to the idea of them throwing in the wood grain kit and moonroof visor ($199 and $79 MSRP). We told them that, if they did this, we would pay MSRP for the spoiler, which we wanted pretty bad.

George seemed a little doubtful, but after confirming a million times that we had a deal if they threw in the wood grain kit and the visor, he decided to write everything up. He wrote down all of our information (contacts/salary/house payment/etc), and asked us for a deposit check. After we confirmed with him a million times that we expected them not to "lose" our check if we decided not to buy, he took it to the sales manager.

Sales manager guy comes up with the usual story about how low priced the car is already, and, in the end, told us that he couldn't do it. We said "ok," took our check back and walked out. This is where it get's interesting.

As we're standing by the car talking, this 6'7" thug-looking guy walks out and tells us, in this booming voice, how we owe George an apology. "He worked for two days on this deal!" "Don't you know he works on commission?!" "For you to sit there and look smug and walk away from the deal is just rude!" Seriously, this guy had his voice raised, and was damn near yelling.

We were darn near speachless. My wife was like "Who *are* you?!?" He said that he was the owner (I don't believe it). After I explained that we weren't there to make George money and that he could be as mean as he wanted and it wouldn't change things. Not only that, but wow, we had never been treated this way before.

Needless to say, we aren't going to be buying a car at HONDA CARS OF CLARKSVILLE, even if they call tomorrow and offer it for free. To be treated this way, no matter if they liked our offer or not, is just ridiculous.

Epilogue: I realize that what we asked for is a lot, but with so many stories on here of people getting $21.5K for this car, we felt like we would just try to see what we could get. We were essentially offering $22,554 for an Accord EX V6, with visor, wood grain kit, and spoiler -- a little low, but not verbally-attack-us low.

Know what I mean?

Don't feel bad, Raiden. We're consumers. It's our job to consume!

If the Honda of Clarksville people didn't like your offer, then they should get out of the business of selling and get into the business of buying.

radeon I am not sure if that price is a good price. Maybe in your area it is...but I was looking to buy an accord.
Buena Park Honda in California had 6 this week (v6 leather, auto, EX) for 20288 or 20488

We decieded to get a Millenia instead after I got what I think is a better deal though...

Hey guys, I've been following this thread for a couple of weeks now. It also sparked me to ask dealers around town from where I live (San Antonio). I got this deal from Russell & Smith Honda. He quoted me a 4 dr. 2002 SE Honda Accord for: $17,195. Here are his exact words: My discounted price for the in stock 2002 Accord Sedan SE automatic is $17,195. This price includes the $460 destination & handling cost. Call for the drive out price. The price listed expirers in 72 hours of e-mail sent time and date. If you would like to set up an appointment, call or E-mail me.

I don't think I will be purchasing a car anytime soon so you guys can jump on this (if the deal is still up, e-mailed last week). Ask for Nathan Chianelli the Fleet and Internet Manager.

i might be in the market for a new car and this does sound intriguing. I'm a little hesitant though since this is like so common everywhere. Not thats it a bad car or anything, old zoiks just likes to be different a bit i guess.
I might just get an A4 though its quite more expensive. Drove my friends brand new purple S4 and im in love. S4's way way out of my reach but i think i might be able to get the A4. My job's gotta be worth somethin!

for those of you that bought this car... I'm just curious as to how much your insurance is... mine is 1800 per year... I think that is way to high... wondering if I need to start searching for a new insurnace company

Raiden256:
Time to break out the bitchin stick, take it to that guy and shove it. Corporate would be very interested to know that their dealership owners are verbally assaulting customers, I'd pursue every customer feedback channel that Honda provides to ensure that guy gets a spanking from the higher-ups.

You are right, MD insurance is definately a sticker shock. The Accord actually cost more to insure than the Infiniti G35 for me. The difference is about 160 bucks a year.

Insurance pricing is really dependent on age and driving record. 1800 is what I pay for 2 cars with full coverage, per year, which I think is a little high considering my marital status, age, and good driving record. I am insured with State Farm. If you are over 25 and have a good driving record, give them a try. I found they have the most competitive rates in the industry, at least in Maryland. I checked with progressive, and they wanted to charge me 1800 per year on the Accord alone. Geico and Allstate are not too far behind State Farm, but State Farm agents can be found on every other block in my area.

I bought the Accord EX V6 Sedan last week and I think the insurance is $850/year for me if I were to insure the car by itself. I'm 25, 1 at fault accident on my DMV that the insurance company knows about, living in Bay Area, CA. I'm pissed off now that the EX V6 Sedan only comes with 15" Wheels and the EX V6 Coupe comes with 16" Wheels! That's messed up!!!

The best part about my insurance rate is that I was paying $1050/year before for just my Supra Turbo, but when I added the Accord and said it will be my primary car, my total insurance is less than $1500/year. My coverage on both cars are 100k/300k liability, $100 comp and $500 collision deductable, 30k/60k uninsured motorists.

I'm male, 27, married, 1 car and no tickets/accidents.

The insurance for my 2002 Honda Accord SE is $1,095.96 per year for FULL COVERAGE (comp & collision) but I have every option including:
* Higher limits than the state of Oregon requires
* $500 deductible
* Towing up to 100 miles
* 24/7 Roadside Assistance
* Car rental up to $35 per day for 10 days I think
* Loan gap, this only costs me an additional $3/month and is worth every penny. Let's say your brand new $20k Honda Accord gets into an accident and it's totalled. Your insurance would payoff your car and send you a check or buy you new one, correct? Not really. They'd pay what the car is worth, so if they estimate it's worth $17,500 you have the pay the $2,500 difference before getting your car title from the bank. With my Loan Gap insurance they have to first inspect the vehicle (why? I dunno), then they said ok it's an extra $3/month. So if my car were totalled or stolen my insurance company would 100% payoff my entire car loan leaving me with 0 to pay. For an extra $3/month I think that's worth the peace of mind it offers.

My insurance company is American Family Insurance, unfortunately they aren't available in all US states.

--

Edit: I called my insurance agent to re-confirm how much I'm paying and it's a lot less than I had originally thought (thanks to the person who PM'd me).

Here's what I pay for the above mentioned coverage:
$78.83 per month x 12 = $945.96 for full coverage (comp & coll) car insurance
$9.50 per month x 12 = $114 for $16,000 renters insurance includes a discount combined w/ car ins.
$3 per month x 12 = $36 for loan gap insurance to ensure that 100% of my car loan is paidoff
======================================
$1,095.96 / 12 = $91.33 per month for all that, not bad
