The Wiz has the Gift Pack of Optimum Online for $398 for a year. including brand new cable modem, network card and other stuff.

compare to $49.99 a month x 12 month plus $129.99 for modem. it is a great deal! i think it is only good when you have cablevision service (at least basic). i think it is this week only! so hurry up.
 
not too shabby since it includes the cm,nic, etc.

note if you are stuck with attbi:
You can pay yearly for your service.
You pay 11 months and get the 12th free.

usual rates:
If you own your modem(35.95/mth) $395.45
If you lease from attbi(45.95/mth) $505.45

 
Anyone know, if you already have Optimum Online, if you can cancel and then sign up for this deal? I think my contract with them is ending soon.
 
damn, you people on the mainland USA have all the good deals, here in hawaii it's just Road Runner and Verizon DSL. if i missed something, i probably never heard of it.

1) Well, boohoo, I sure am feeling sorry for you all bandwidth limited there in the island paradise. What WILL you do? ;-) And,

2) Just cause you're on the mainland doesn't mean you have all the choices. I live in a densely populated suburb. I get ATTBI flyers in the mail. But can they set me up with service? Nope. Can they tell me when they might be able to? Nope. Am I going to wait around for them? Nope. DSL is good enough for now.

personally Acme, I perfer reliability & fast upload speeds but maybe that's just me 🙂

Oh, and not to mention when everybody gets on cable in your neighberhood it can slow down.
 
I say put those cheap SOB's at The Wiz and Cablevision out of buisness. A-holes won't give us the YES network here in NY and are raising prices on Optimum Online. Tech support is also terrible. Screw 'em

DSL services here are 49.99. My attbi has higher speed and lower price (34.99).

Now now, before we all get into another "this provider is better than this provider" type of flame war, remember that service quality really depends on your area. Even the same broadband provider in diffrerent areas can have varying speeds and service.
 
I had DSL before, but ever since I switched over to cable internet, I never want to go back. Speed test shows that my cable modem is much quicker than the cable DSL. However, after ATTBI took over, it's not as fast as what it used to be, but still faster than DSL.
 
It would be nice everyone in this thread only posted if they havce info about cablevision's opt online. I would also like to know if I could cancel and sign up through this deal. Also I believe that you do NOT need any TV service to get this deal.
