Hot! Harmon kardon DPR2005 receiver 899 save 600 bucks free shipping

That's not a receiver, it's a battlestation! 🙂

Shouldn't something worth those kind of ducats have DVI ports?

It's tempting - I had been thinking about swapping out my HK Signature 2.0/2.1 preamp+amp for something more compact. For the price though it is disappointing that it is missing some of the higher end video features such composite/svideo-> component conversion and the DVI as someone mentioned.

DTS is so common that one is to assume that a component decodes it??

I don't keep up on A/V hardware like I do computers but I know I've seen units that do DD but not DTS. While conversely, I don't recall seeing a lot or maybe even any that decode DTS only and not DD as well. I thought DD 5.1 reigns supreme and while a comparable format, Lucas and DTS are still in second place.

With that being said, and if correct, why should one assume that DTS decoding is a given if it's not mentioned in the specs?

The main advantage of this reciever is the fact that this is an all digital amp, so it runs cooler and has better overall sound. IMO, Still kinda pricey plus the fact that there are tons, and tons are HK refurb's on ebay make me stay away from the HK line of products.

Those are probably returns from people who bought a high-dollar HK receiver and discovered they couldn't afford it. 🙂
