What's the difference between SATA and SATA 150?

i ordered this one 160GB Seagate Baracuda this morning.

now i found this thread and made me wonder did i just made a fool decision by not paying 3 extra bucks for 40 more gb.

someone can explain the difference?

thanks,

Xo Martel

Nice find! Quick question though. I've heard that drives larger than 120 GB or 130 GB require a card to plug into the motherboard (unless you have a really new computer). Is this true? I'm assuming since this drive is OEM, it doesn't come with that card, huh?

Could someone explain why it needs this?

Thanks

if you have a serial ata controller, you have nothing to worry about.

I do agree though that this deal isn't so great for me, I'll be waiting for a better rebate in the future. (actually... I'm still waiting for the rebate to my first Seagate hard drive now that I think about it)

After my build, Seagate rebates were the first to get back to me, followed by a BB rebate on a seagate drive. 5 weeks.

wrong. samsungs are quieter. i heard recent hitachis are at least as quite as seagates. plus its idle noise that really counts for most part anyway...

Here here, I second that. It is super quiet. I have the 1604N and I have it set on ATA133 and performance and I still can't hear it.

I have two of these from the Dell deal. I love them. Blazing fast and quiet on the spin. There is some read/write noise but it is bearable. RAID 0 all the way baby.

These are true SATA drives and not cheap PATA with a bridge chip.

You will need SATA power connectors and cables. Get your cables from bestbyte.net.
