HOT: Hanns G 28" TN LCD 289 shipped w promo

These are nice monitors for the price but the reviews are correct in that they have a high failure rate of <2 years of use. I bought one brand new in Nov '08 (the model that preceded this one but same panel). It performed flawlessly for almost a year then began having intermitting problems (clicking noises, image suddenly dimming then going back to full brightness etc). The problems got more frequent and it finally died completely about 2 weeks ago. It still powers on but it only gives a whitish screen with pink and yellow lines.

When they work, it's a decent TN screen and you cannot beat the size for the $ or the 1920x1200 resolution (16:10). I just wish SOMEONE else made a monitor this size & resolution that was a bit higher quality. I'd gladly pay a few bucks more for a brand with better QC.

also there is 2% BCB

the warranty is 3 years FWIW so you can try and RMA yours

I looked at other options(ordrered 2, my buddy has 3 that have been working flawlessly for the last 2 years) but I cant pay 450 bucks for one monitor, my wife would kill me

Thanks OP, been waiting for this to drop a bit! Needed a need mega-monitor for my mom's rig 🙂

i've had a 19" hanns g for 3 years now and it works great. I just bought a 25" hanns g last month for my new rig and 1080p gaming rocks.

can anyone comment how shrinking fonts and such look on this screen? i need more real estate on a single screen (laptop connect) than i'm getting with a 23in 1080p monitor... can i effectively use smaller fonts, etc and get more on the screen and still have it legible?

I didn't really mess around with font scaling or anything but I can speak from firsthand experience. I had been using a 22" 1080p monitor at work and occasionally had to zoom IE8 in to 125% to read a few bits of tiny text on certain websites. I do know that I was able to go home and use my Hanns G 28" @ 1920x1200 and read all of those sites with zero difficulty or zooming in. Now, my Hanns G did die after 16 months of moderate use (was fortunatey able to return it to Costco). I just replaced the dead Hanns G with a Acer 24" 1080p monitor and I definitely miss the aspect ratio & size of the Hanns G, especially when gaming. I still might consider buying another one but I am just sooooo concerned I'll get burned with another flaky power supply. Besides, the new model of the Hanns G doesn't offer the swivel base that my older model did. But for the price it's an amazing screen and really hard to pass up...

updated OP

I'd like to get this monitor, and another small one so that while i'm using my xbox or ps3 I can still access my PC without having to switch sources. Anyone have any suggestions on a small widescreen than can be rotated? looking for something that will kind of match up to the 28.

I feel ya. I'm waiting for just one soul to buy this and comment on the input lag...I may have to be the guinea pig myself.

All my games run great at 1900 X 1200 no lag.

The fonts appear larger on this monitor than on my previous 22"

had it for about a year, cost me about $320

Highly recomended for gamers and the rest of you too.

The Hanns or the DoubleSight?

The Hanns G,
and my buddy has the i-Inc brand which is 90% the same monitor,
(shorter warranty, generally cheaper price)

Hard core gaming runs great on the two monitors.

BF2, COD mwf2, Crysis, .....
