The web site now says, $-59.94 instead of 150 so the error is corrected.

My order is still processing and I take that as a good sign. My Maxtor 60GB arrived today (which I kind of got dicked on, staples sucks), but when I log on to the page, it still says processing. It is installed in my computer, yet the page says processing.

Therefore, I have high hopes for getting my visor (knock on wood). That will kind of make up for the dicking I took on my hard drive (BTW, IBM sucks).

In short, those of you who are still processing, have faith.

In an unrelated note, there is a lot of neffing in this thread. Not trying to be high and mighty, I just see some people clogging this thread because they use it like a chat room instead of a forums posting. It's hard for people like me to squeeze info out of the posts when there is a lot of filler to sort through. Please keep our forums tidy.

<< so wait... you mean we could have ordered it WITHOUT the software?!?!? >>

I'm just speculating, haven't tried anything, and what I'm saying might not be right.

I think you had to get those software titles, but maybe you can return them and eventually get your Visor Deluxe for $0.01 like I did with one of my orders.

OK, in my 3 orders, I got a Staples store receipt as well as a Staples Direct receipt that shows the coupon code applied. My staples store-like receipt doesn't show the coupon code. The staples-store-like receipt for my order with both software titles has a total of $226.67. But, the receipt that's a whole page with the coupon code on it only shows it as $65. So I'm guessing if you bring in the store-like receipt, maybe you can return the software titles.

I'm assuming it's like OfficeMax. They had these printers at OfficeMax.com and I bought a couple and then decided to return them to the B&M store. The receipts I had didn't reflect the coupon price. So when I returned the printers, I actually made money because the B&M store didn't know anything about a coupon b/c they didn't put it on the receipt I received. I was charged the correct price at the .com with the coupon, but the B&M didn't know. :Q

Hmm, it doesn't always work out so easily. I went to a local B&M Staples this morning to grab my visor. The manager said I needed to print out a copy of my shopping cart. I came back this afternoon and talked to a different manager (after he got off a 20 minute phone call with a buddy of his). He wouldn't honor the coupon because it wouldn't ring up on the register. Anyways, I just left and placed the order online. I hope it goes through...

I didn't read the whole thread, but the staples CSR said they were NOT going to honor this and all orders would be corrected. I'm not sure about the local B&M way, but that seems like the best bet. I won't even try it myself...not worth the hassle of arguing the legitimacy of a typo coupon error. I'd rather go for a 100% legit deal.

Staples doeesn't suck...but there are a lot of people that take advantage of Staples' liberal policies that TRULY SUCK. No, NOT the average person ordering...the ones that think they have some kind of ENTITLEMENT to get the deal at all costs, even when it is MORE THAN OBVIOUS that an error has been made. Staples doesn't owe you or me anything, and they are by FAR the best of the office superstores. Officemax is another story...they truly blow.

Hmm...just checked my order status at Staples. It says that the Visor has shipped and the 150 coupon is still there. Hope it's actually gone out the door.

BUMMER, oh well!! didnt get my hope up on an error. Too many people ordering for them not to correct it!

Visor says shipped using UPS. The software ship date is on the 27 using the Staple Courier. I wonder if they're going to change the coupon.

In response to justincase... Staples is good for their online interactive and real-time CSR's but SUCKS when it goes from cancelling orders. After you place an order you have less than five minutes supposedly, to cancel if you order on a weekday. For officemax, you can order on a weekday and if it's before the ship date, you can cancel it without a hassle. :)

Guys, I'm on the phone with a CSR right now. They just told me to reject the order if I want to get a refund. Those bastards.

Mine shipped too, but if you accept it, Staples will charge you the difference of the mistake they made. That's to say that they are going to add $90 to your bill. Bummer.

It's my understanding that a merchant can not charge your credit card for an amount more than you agreed to.

They're within their rights to cancel an order, but to unilateraly increase the charge amount is forbidden.

If they were to do that to my account I would dispute the charge.

They explained to me that the coupon was simply keyed in wrong, so I said ok thanks and please cancel the order. Was worth a try, bitching about Staples is totally out of place, immature and greedy.

polotek, the CSR told you that if you accepted it you would have to pay the difference, even if it still says it shipped for 65?

can we just accept it, then not open it and get it shipped back if they do charge us more?

People, they CANNOT charge you more than the quoted price after you have received the product. Yes, they can cancel your order before shipment but once you received the product the transaction is complete.

They will be BREAKING some serious law if they do that!!!

polotek147, don't listen to them.. They KNOW that they don't have the right to charge you the extra!

Well if they overcharge me (my ones were already delivered early today), then I'm going to dispute them like crazy. I actually thought something like this might happen, so I put these purchases on some cards with excellent service when dealing with disputes :)

I wouldn't have had a problem if they cancelled my order (hey, you win some you lose some...no big deal), but if they overcharge me, I'm definitely going to be mad.

i agree, if they screwed up, cancel my order, but if you ship it and charge me more that I agreed, that's bait and switch, and I will dispute difference, and I have that right. theres a right way to resolve this, and then there is staples way.

if you screw up, fix it, dont screw me. I didn't ask to buy it for $150, I wanted it for $60. If you cant give it to me for $60 you can keep it, and i'll move on. (after i moan in the correct forum ;) )
