I'm very excited about this movie. Recently discovered "Spaced" (a BBC show written by the writer/director of shaun and simon peg, the star) and now i consider myself a huge fan - I'll be there! Critics are saying it's even funnier than Shaun and also works well as an action movie, delivering over the top thrills.

Something tells me your point of view is in the minority here. Personally, I thought it was a fun movie, and I expect the same from Hot Fuzz.

Looks like it has most of the same crew, so it should be great.

You can watch it online from a certain website that has been mentioned here before.... It's cam quality but not too bad.

Saw it tonight, it was ****** great as expected. I forsee being able to rewatch this even more times than Shaun of the Dead.

TONS of lines/references to cop movies...I think my gf and I were the only ones in the theater to laugh at the Chinatown riff, though.

All in all, Best Picture of the Year, Nick Frost for Best Supporting Actor, both handsdown wins next Oscars. ;)

EDIT: Oh yeah, the reporter getting offed with the chunk of the church roof was just brutal.

I actually didn't "love" SotD, but it had its moments...Hot Fuzz is remarkably better. Same pacing (2/3rds development and final 1/3rd is non-stop action), but the parody-moments are an easier laugh (360° swirling cameras, electric guitar soundtrack, etc) and it doesn't have the depressing parts that SotD had. Lots of loose ends were properly tied up, and if you pay attention to some of the names mentioned during the movie, you might want to read through the credits too. :)

Not going to rag on Shaun of the Dead but I though it was going to be much better than it was. While it sort of made fun of zombie movies it basically turned out to be a zombie movie...but just a little more fun.

come on, let's be honest here, the 2nd half of the movie was pretty darn boring.

the excellent, genre-defining 1st half doesn't quite average out the mediocre 2nd half.
