If you get an untrained CSR, you may be able to return the mobo by itself, but most of them require that you return both the processor and the motherboard.

If any of you guys that got this deal don't want the board and can take pity on me.........

I had a massively catostrophic failure of my dually system this week something went POOF! and Fried my Tyan S2460, Maxtor 120Gb hard Drive, and TruePower 550.

The Harddrive, PSU and Mobo have all been RMA'd. I need a cheap mother board so I can test My All in Wonder 9700, CPU's, RAM, other two hard drives and PCI Cards...

I don't care what it is as long as it's a socket A can run 266 FSB has an AGP slot and takes PC2100 DDR...

I want something cheap just for testing (a tool) and that I won't cry over if something fries it...

PM Me if you have one you wanna let go for ~$20 shipped... Thanks..

Every Fry's has the deal for the ECS mobo and the XP proc.

I've gotten a few dead procs when I bought the combo a couple times.

Ok... Yeah... I'm lazy to look this up on the interenet. Maybe someone can be kind enough to answer some questions like...

Why will the front side bus only hit 133? I thought it was a 266 FSB? Obviously it must be 133 X 2?

Hmmm, I know the ECS board sucks for overclocking but the only other option you got is 166... If you try to push the chip that high it dies. The system won't even come back to bios so you have to reset the jumper on the bios and go into configure it again...

On these 1800 chips can it go to 166 FSB? Unlocked?

Also..... I know there is a BIOS update that will allow other combinations for FSB settings. I guess I am wondering has anyone overclocked this 1800+ /ECS combo? What is the highest you got with it? Are you using the stock fan or do you have to buy a better one?

Do you have to unlock the chip to get it there? That would be pain since I just scraped off the heat pad and put a small dab of silver on the die. But I could do it again I suppose.

Thanks for your help...

I managed to snag one of these combos on Saturday at Fry's in Dallas. I saw a guy leaving with one, and asked him what chip he got, so he shows me his retail boxed DLT3C 1800, and I couldnt believe it! I have a 1700DLT3C that runs at 2.2, so this should be just as good with a little luck. In any case, for 60 bux its an awesome deal!

i think you have to use software fsb adjustment to o/c to 166mhz fsb right?

the 2000+ deal is on now, u think theres tbred b's in the chain now too?

guess not, the 2000+ i got was an A 🙁

you lucky bums. so can the b's really oc to 166mhz bus with no voltage bump?

the 2000+ i got only goes to 2200+🙁

I have read a few times that you can call a fry's store and they will ship these deals to you

Has anyone here ever tried that? If so how much do they charge to ship? If your getting a retail boxed CPU, I wouldn't worry about a dead CPU at all.

Uh.. is it safe to go from 1533mhz raw to 1733mhz raw using just the base AMD heatsink? I was registering temps of up to 45'C running stock speeds with PC100 ram.... I'd hate to see what happened if I was running it at 166 / 133DDR.

I just got ahold of the Friday fry's ad due to insomnia and playing xbox Capcom vs SNK2 EO Online all night. I love that game. Anywho, this same deal is AMD XP1800+ & ECS K7S5A Pro are again at 59.99. This is for the sales period of 8-8 to 8-12. Sweet! Oh! For Arizona market so far! For those that really really want one, I can maybe help them out with getting one and shipping it. PM me.

Front page of Oregon's Friday ad, too. Same deal again.

Good through the 12th or until they run out. 😉

AMD says anything below 90 C is ok with them. 🙂 Tho, I'd not want to push it much more then 60-65C... I just don't like running things that hot.

To get the stock CPU fan to get down to 30C scrape off that crappy heat pad that came with the boxed cpu. Go get yourself some silver paste ... apply that on the die. My 1800's run at 50-55C Full Throttle.

That's the whole idea of saving $$... So you don't have to fork out 10 more dollars for cpu fans. I am sure with the right MoBo, you could most likly overclock even higher. But... Then you may want to switch to a higher end CPU Fan... Or go Water Cooled.

Actually, he meant "double post." 😉

As far as getting any Fry's to sell you stuff on the phone, I think it depends on which way the wind is blowing on any given day...
