Deal ends Tuesday.

If you get one with the same code as the ones listed above, DL3TC JIUHB, it should go 2.2-2.4GHz aircooled.

Fry's has a Abit KD7 w/2400XP Boxed CPU today also for $150 in Wilsonville Oregon. I just got back with mine. I had taken the DFI AD77 Infinity back last night and thought I would try another one thinking that maybe I had just gotten a bad board, but the second AD77 did not perform (like the first one) as well in 3dBenchmark either using the same hardware from the system with a k7s5a (over 700 score difference). Since I have PC2700 RAM I wanted to utilize it and not have it default to the PC2100 that the ECS board has, so I opted to get the Abit & 2400XP retail combo. I will hook it up tonight and see how it does :)

as an FYI, they stuck an immediate 5% discounted price sticker on the 2 boards that I took back.

:(!

The one on Brokaw/Murphy is the Aztek themed one, right? I never have gotten a TBird-B from them, I once asked the guy who gets the CPU's out of the cage to bring like 10 of them so I can look at them all and pick, all Palomino's that time. I got lucky the next and got a Tbird.

Yeah, I've had the same experience in the past with them too. And yes it is the Aztec themed one. You must be fairly close by. =) Anyway, i can guaruntee that as of Aug 1, 2003 then they had that cpu going on sale because my friend returned later on that evening and got himself one after i toldhim about it. Hope you can get it on it. Good till Tuesday!

As for the dude that got the Abit combo deal. Did you flash your bios with the latest ??? That will let you oc the ecs board better to get more out of it.

There are T'bred B and T'bred A steppings. L in DLT3C means voltage 1.5V core, U in DUT3C would mean 1.6V. What you are looking for is first the stepping B, the last letter as in JIUHB for example. These are good. Now if they are 1.5V that is even better, and finally if they start with A (not J) these suppose to be the best. But B stepping whatever it is should make 2.2 GHz on air cooling with a good heatsink.
As far as I know newegg sells these, with B stepping for $53, shipped free, for some time already though on the photos there they put A stepping (with 42nd week of 2002) so it is a sort of risk. This Fry's deal is amazingly good IF you get the B stepping.

To those who actually bought these this time:

Is this a new batch of boards or are they returned returns?

I.e. do they have s small white sticker on them with handwritten notes (date CSR's name etc.)?

I'm really surprised that it took this long for someone to say something like this...

Out of all the K7S5A-based systems I've built, only one board had a "problem" with anything. It was the original version of the non-Pro K7S5A and it was a cold-boot issue. I took care of the issue by moving the DDR to the other slot and there have been no other problems with the system since I built it. ;)

My ECS K7S5A-Pro board seems to lose the CMOS settings once every few weeks....not that big of a deal but can get annoying at times when I'm in a hurry. By the time I figured out what was happening it was already a month later and too late to return. But its still a good deal anyways.

A common problem on this board.

No... They had about 20 boxes that were already out. I mean cases of these boards as a matter of fact every one I bought the frys dude made sure I didn't get one with a sticker. I guess they are just sending them back or throwing them in the garbage. Dunno they must struck up a pretty good deal with ecs.

If you get a DLT3C JIUHB, this is hot! This definately beats 2000+ deals at the same price due to its great OC potential. IF you want an idea of how good it is, a 1800+ DLT3C JIUHB is just as good as a 1700+ DLT3C JIUHB XPMW or WPMW.

I got 3 retail JIUHB CPUs so far. The combo is listed in the ad again today and now it says "While supplies last, no rainchecks". I might pick up one more tonight to upgrade another system.

They had some xps ranging from 2400 to 2600 combo with Soyo Drangon Lites. I personally purchased the latter.

I bought this too for a backup system for my parents. Can anyone tell me what RAM this board will be good with?

i got this board and a 2000+ 2 weeks ago. just using my old kingston pc133 value ram. but using the cheepoman bios i've got it rock stable @ 150fsb, 1.85 ghz.

for those asking about the mobos, when iwent they had a lot of returns but i was able to find a pile of NIB mobos and grabbed one of them. haven't had a mobo problem yet.

Go into your BIOS and change the FSB speed to 133.

Although I have to presume that they break even items for Fry's to get people in , I still don't see how they can sell them that cheap when comparing this to the prices at Pricewatch .

I would think Newegg has equal or greater buying power with ECS. Maybe Fry's has special gray market deal ( maybe they don't do RMAs ?|) .

In Fremont:

AXDA1800DL3TC JIUHB 03220

A pallet of K7S5a Pro's, most are unopened.

Could we really return the MoBo for $27.27??? Hmmmmm......
