Any thoughts? I wanna buy 4 and setup my raid. Although 4 300 gigs would be nice 'cause a terabyte of storage is all i need :p

Pretty good... I'm tempted to get this, just ran outta HD space. It's $5 cheaper than last week's price and $5 cheaper than the CompUSA price on the same drive.

But there was that WD 250GB for like $84.10 @ Circuit City couple of weeks back, and I think Fry's sold the WD 250GB for like $129 AR, but that one had a massive like $130+ rebate. I prefer Maxtor, so I might have to jump. I'll gonna wait till this weekend's (Friday) Ads to see if anything better pops up.

Hmm,
I have a 120gb and 160gb maxtor 8mb cache drives in my shuttle...maybe replacing both of these with a single 250GB maxtor will decrease power consumption and heat dissipation. Is the deal still good?

Whats the exact price? It was $109 last week, with $50 MIR. A PM would be nice.

$0.50 a gig is the going rate for a HD 120gb or smaller. usually there is a little per gig price jump with drives 160gb or bigger

if you can get $0.33 per gig then it's hot.
otherwise, it's just normal price nowaday.

99% of the time if you have to ask "Hot?" or "Hot or not?" in a post title, it's probably not. If in doubt, you could always do a little research.

Not that great without the controller, with the included inbox Maxtor ATA133/SATA controller (usually $49.95 retail) it's a decent deal, especially for a single drive solution. I opted for this last time they had this on sale because it was only $30 rebate (instead of the Hitachi 160/180/200 deal with ~ $90 rebate - at least the 200Gb that I had in my hands for a while while mulling over the Maxtor deal). I hate having to call the fulfillment companies every time because they screw up, so it's less rebate money on the line.

The controller was Promise OEM (in case anyone was interested)
