Got this from pocketpcpassion, and thanks "smwoodcrafts" for the deal.

For those who own a Dell Axim, dell (dell Home) offer a Pocket PC upgrade CD for $24.65 shipped. Dell will start shipping the CD by the end of July, somone for the forum also stated, if you buy your Axim just recenlty (last 30 days) you can call Dell up and ask them for a free upgrade and this is YMMV.

I'm not happy about the fact that I have to pay for this upgrade, even though I just bought an Axim like 2 months ago. This is one upgrade I won't be getting.

Actually...

Axims purchased after May 23, 2003 are eligible for a free upgrade. At this time we have not announced the procedure for customers to acquire the free upgrade.

(Bought mine on the 24th)

Doesn't help me though, since I bought it sometime in April. Oh well. Like I said, I won't be paying for this upgrade. Anyone want to buy an Axim?

I'm with you. It truly does suck that I buy a CF WiFi card in order to surf the web with my PDA and can't because PIE sucks so bad. This should be a free patch not an upgrade.

Wonder if it would be free if you RMA your Axim? I was suppose to exchange it 4 months ago, maybe I should try it?

Wonder when other PDA manufacturers (HP, Casio, etc.) will start issuing upgrade CDs. Looking at buying a PocketPC that's currently loaded with PocketPC 2002 would be nice for an inexpensive upgrade to 2003.

I ordered a Dell Axim 400 during the last 15% off, 15% off, 5% off, 2% off fiasco a few weeks ago, it STILL hasn't shipped yet.

Call up Dell...I did it and it shipped out the same day. I've been playing with it for 2 weeks! :)

Guess I don't have to call Dell after all, just checked my order status and *gasp* my Dell Axim 400 and 5 Canon PowerShot S400's have shipped

Fortunately my order date was 6/14/2003 so my Axim should come with PPC 2003.

I agree with both of you that this sucks(and that Pocket IE is almost useless, try using Thunderhawk, it's great except you have to PAY! plus I lost my keyboard :frown;) I bought my Axim back in December 2002(my screen has these annoying dark spots all over grr...) and you'd think they wouldn't be such a-holes and just upgrade everybody.

I do wonder if I send my Axim in for warranty service, whether they'd probably just send back a newer one with PPC2003...I really do wonder since the new Axim owners sending theirs back would expect PPC2003 and it'd be weird for Dell to have two stockpiles.

It's a bug fix release- Like Windows 98SE.

Yeah...if you look at the new features, there's not really a lot new, it's just expanded support and enhancements. Again, a lot like Win98SE.

This should be out about the same time at SD WiFi cards...the naitive support will be nice :)
